Sorry about gran, also about accident, but glad you are ok. Take it easy, it can hit you days afterwards, especially when you had your little one with you.

5 weeks will fly by so look forward to that, holidays rock

Well tomorrow's the big day when I pick up my new car - wheels at last of my own - its been over 2 weeks with one car in the family.

We have been costing up car seats for daughter. The one we had originally which was in the crash has went up in price by £40 in 18mths it was a mamas & papas pro tec. We tried to buy this through topcashback but the place where we were going to buy from with a good cashback is sold out.
Hopefully on Monday when we are on holiday we may need to visit places such as Halfords and mothercare to see different models and see how sturdy they are. Daughter needs a sturdy one I believe as she is 2yrs and we have been in a crash so it certainly gets you thinking. Luckily we have borrowed our in-laws car seat at the moment, which is Britax - but do not really like this.

Gran's funeral yesterday went well - reasonable amount of people attended (mostly my aunts friends for support) and then to a football club hall for nibbles & tea.

On mortgage part of it, I need to readjust my overall target of overpayments to £3400, due to circumstances to date its not possible to achieve £4000 set. At least Im still overpaying by sometime so it helps - just need to remind myself of this.

    Hi Lynn
Sorry I've missed the recent posts and what you've been through. Good to hear that you are back with a car, I can relate to the need to rebuild confidence having had a major accident in the past. You are right to review the plans based on finances as they are now and rebuilding your savings / emergency fund; the positive point is you had the cash to allow you get a car you want not forced to get one at the insurance valuation of that written off.

    Hope things now improve.

Went to the bank and traded in a bag of 5p and 2p - so got £6 which I have put into my mortgage tin (hopefully it will be full by Nov/Dec, as it will be running for a year then and its half to nearly 3/4 full already). Hoping this will be a few hundred pound when counted out.

Whilst at the bank, I managed to change our normal current account into the reward account, so we will be getting more interest (hopefully the £5 per month that they advertise) this will be good.

Well as its the 1st of June (where has the time gone) my monthly interest on the mortgage was £250.95 which is equalient to £8.10 daily. This is going in the correct direction as you can see below:-

    March £8.26 interest charged daily
    April £8.18
    May £8.10

Now we are on the varible 2.5% so hopefully should be able to get the mortgage a wee bit more than normal. Hope to make an overpayment on wednesday.

Had a few big spending days, due to buying new sandals and trainers for daughter as well as buying summer clothes for myself (none in the wardrobe) and we are getting all this nice weather. Hubbie opened up an account with littlewood direct through topcashback, so we will get a small amount back and managed to get a £30 discount - well chuffed.

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather the last 4 days - hope this continues until wednesday at least.

Well done on that reducing interest per day; a great example of how to find factors to monitor which "mean" something in the context of reducing the mortgage when the change in the capital outstanding can often mask good progress. :T

Good to hear you using TopCashBack for the Littlewoods Direct account; can you also get cashback for your online orders too? We do this with Next, you just need to remember to clear the cookies and then via TBC go to the retailer, if you were browsing the retailer earlier; it should ensure tracking.

Regarding need for purchase, far better to regularly replace as needed than one massive hit and of course children don't choose to grow in the sales do they? :rotfl:

Made overpayment for June today of £260 (this is slightly smaller than anticipated as need spending money for our holiday in 2 weeks time). Hope to be able to make another small overpayment if I receive my refund of my car tax from the written off car and this will be paid to the mortgage.

Had a look at my rough spreadsheet and note that I believe that my mortgage amount at the end of the year will be down to £61,000 hopefully (wished and hoping it would be £60,000) but its not possible this year due to different things which have happened.
