Keep up the good work; do look at your budget and try to see if it is truly realistic for a complete year. Hope the finances continue to be good.

Stuart - target may not be achievable as it may be a bit short. Next month we go onto the variable rate for hopefully a few months and this will bring up the overpayment amount to nearer the target, but I can but try and anything is better than nothing. Next year's overpayment target will certainly be lower.

Why when things seem to be going well, it all goes wrong. Need to do my finances and see if we need a loan or use our savings to buy a new car. I and my 2yr old daugher were involved in a motor accident last night - it was scary stuff and one I do not wish to repeat in a hurry. Luckily daughter is ok and I only have whiplash but originally speculation is that my car is a write off. Need to get a new car soon as I need to get to work and it is in a town where I cannot get to by public transport. I was driving straight on a road when a young lad pulled out on me to turn right into another street - he was taken to hospital last night. I am sitting here with sore shoulder, chest and neck and will see if it gets a bit bit or worse as I am due to work tomorrow afternoon. We have managed to figure out how to get to work & nursery this week. Another hiccup but at least we are both still here, so this may afect my overpayment amount for the year.

Oh no, that's awful. Hope you are feeling better soon. So glad that things aren't worse at least you and your daughter still have each other - I think you deserve to forget about the mortgage ops this month. Have you heard anything from the insurance regarding your car? Is there any chance you can get a hire car to tide you over?

It only happened at 7.20pm last night and the recovery vehicle picked up the vehicle at 11pm last night, so far I know that it is going to the garage today to be assessed and then will find out if repairable (I will get a courtesy car) not sure if a write off if will get anything. Sorry having a sorry moment. May's overpayment has been done, so we will see what happens but hopefully can continue with a lower amount for the reminder of the year.

Well Im a bit stiff and tense but we went out car shopping after daughter's gymnastics class. Daughter was left at grandparents and we managed to visit 3 different garages to see what was available at what price.

I have placed a deposit down on a car and hopefully will get this next friday (if things do not change). I have 08 Reg Volkswagon Polo 1.2 Match which is an upgrade of my previous car and is only 10mths old and allocated to the garage. I decided to stay with the same car since it saved my life the 1st time round. I went for a test drive today - it was the first time that I have driven since Monday night and I was nervous especially at a junction but I suppose this will get better as I get my confidence back up again.

My gran passed away this morning, but it was coming as she was in a bad way in the hospital, so will find out when the funeral will happen and can confirm to the garage when I get my new car. I have received the pay out from my insurance company and we are transferring the extra money needed from the savings, so that we can pay the outstanding balance.

Have re-looked at the finances, and will paying an £100 into the savings, so the overpayments will be slightly reduced so that we can built back up our savings again.

Completed the form returning my tax disc for the written off vehicle, so hopefully should get something for this for the full 7mths left. I hopefully will pay into mortgage overpayment, since I collect car tax stamps every month and the garage is taxing my new car for 6mths.

Will need to assess later on in the year if I can fully achieve my target of £4,000 as I think it is now not realistic due to circumstances outwith my control but any overpayment is good - just need to keep on telling myself this.

Holidays only 5 weeks - hurrah - hope this comes soon as I need some good stuff to happen.
