We have found TripAdvisor good to get feedback on locations, although the USA comments if negative are very negative so you need to moderate their weighting.

    Still not booked ours yet...

Well I have put in my holiday sheet to my work and hopefully will get this signed off next week when I return on wednesday. Then we will book our holiday and have something to look forward to this year.

Went grocery shopping and ended up buying more stuff (reduced price) of course for the freezer. Hopefully I can still make my target of £200 per month, so next 2 weeks will be stocking up things in fridge, veg and maybe some tins.

My car is in the garage at the moment as a light came on the dashboard when driving home from work last night. Hopefully it will be repaired at no cost to me. Prior to christmas (22nd Dec) the light came on and it was going into the garage for MOT and asked them to look at it. Anyway they replaced the coil under warranty (they have extended my warranty as low mileage driver - car is 4yrs old). Anyway 3 weeks later the same light comes on so fingers crossed it is not costly to us.

DD has been really grumpy this morning and hopefully will be in a better mood after her nap. Anyway about 20mins ago she decided that she would fall out of her cot - will monitor this and not doubt in the next few months we may have to change her cot into a bed. It glad me a bit of a fright but hubbie is walking on coals and has put about 4 big pillows at the side of the cot.

Hubbie knows that I am doing this diary and that I am overpaying the mortgage but does not really want to know my goals that I wish to achieve. I have been thinking and hope to have mortgage down to £50,000 by Dec 2010 as no doubt 2011 we may wish to move to a bigger house, if the market is picking up again.

Well garage was unable to find anything wrong with the car and I have to monitor it and call them again if the light comes back on.

Last night, hubbie wanted to book up the holiday. We have booked 7 days away mid june to a caravan park outside Silloth, in cumbria. We are just awaiting confirmation from them and hopefully I will get the ok from my work for holiday approval. At least we will have paid this in the next few months as its on the credit card for security reasons and then only to find some spending money which we should be able to find.

thanks to stuart as we used trailadviser to get comments on different holiday parks and this helped us in our decision of the holiday park and type of caravan. Fingers crossed there is semi decent weather in June.

Nice to see you've got the holiday arranged, gives something good to look forward to despite the economy etc. Hope we do get a good summer, I think we are "due" one after recent years.

Well fairly normal weekend but hubbie went to the slater menswear clearance sale which was being held in an industrial estate next to our house and managed to get 2 t-shirts, good going out jeans and a belt for £10 - he is really chuffed with this. I was out last night with friends and we used the 50% off pizza hut so we managed to save £16 off the bill and then onto the pictures - it was a good night. Was advised about another website which has vouchers, deals etc hotukdeals.co.uk - anyway hubbie has had a quick look on this and we will see if there are any fanastic deals about. Received hubbie's expenses - so we will be paying this to the credit card to pay towards the holiday, Managed to put away an additional £70 into the savings account - which is great for January. Just need to see if I get paid next week or the following week. February is going to be a bad month for us as we have 5 or 6 birthdays/nights out arranged so it will be hard to put an additional amounts away. Still hoping to overpay mortgage by £500 as no council tax.

Well today I got my payslip and wages go into the bank tomorrow so Im paid fortnightly. Hopefully after doing my sums I maybe able to pay the additional £50 towards the mortgage for the month of january, which takes it up to the £500 allowed to overpay. Both of us are very money conseious at the moment due to the economic climate so we overpay and put more in the savings in case needed for job losses or if we survive ok, then it will certainly come in handy when we want to move to a larger house.

Good to see that you are remaining on track pretty well, but also taking time to enjoy yourselves a bit too.

    Hiya Lynn

I know we are all worried about the econonmy at the moment, but at least by overpaying the mortgage, the Nationwide would give you a payment holiday if things get tough. It may vary from mortgage to mortgage but I beleive that the Nationwide will allow you to 'borrow back' your overpayments, so it's as good as sticking it in the savings account.

Check your key features document for the mortgage!

Well hubbie has come in from work to say that they have to continue to do their normal work as usual, so he is stopping talking about "r....." and we can carry on as normal. thats a bit of weight off our minds even though we are now officially in a recession. On another note I have lost 3/4 of a lb off and hopefully this will get better as weeks go on. Received a letter from our IFA to say that they will be contacting us in the near future as our fixed rate runs out at the end of May - we will be see what happens as well as have a discussion with nationwide (our current lender).
