Right, OP for september goes off tomorrow of £1,200, which takes our yearly figure to £19,291.76:j
Booked a holiday for later in the year - this will produce another £46 from Quidco and add to my cash back from Egg for next year. Luckily we can do this without hitting the OP's - we treat these as regular bills only.
Now seriously thinking it's time to call it a day on Mrs RT's car - appears to be reaching that stage were you feel you might end up chucking good money after bad. Decision needed next month or so.
Spreadsheet tells me we are around £120,400 at present - next big target is bwginning of October which should be in the £118's. We have £120 then £100 as our next big aims so here's hoping !RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

Right the car decision has been made - it's going and now into the decisions on what to buy and best way to fund.
In the meantime, dropping back the OP's as we already have over £19K additional in this year, which should still leave us at around £116K at year end 9 originally planned for £113K), but happy enough with this considering £143K in Dec 2008.
It just felt like the right time to build some more savings anyway, but with the a car to pay for the decison was made easy.RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

Best wishes on the car replacement; odd to hear that prices in the used market rose in the period from January. Here's hoping you can get a good deal; remember getting the deal close to month end can help on leveraging a good price when the salesman and garage are trying to get to month end targets.0 -

Well done on reaching all your targets, I am in the same boat as regards the car, mine is currently making a rather odd screaching noise when I'm on full lock and sounds like something metal is falling off when I go over bumps!! Trouble is I always think you need a decent car and then a 'work horse' in the family! Hubby has nice car I have the one that transports the dog, goes to bootsales etc.

It's the timing of it that frustrates us - really want to crack on with the OP's. But common sense has to prevail and we have had a very good run to date so shouldn't complain.RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

As in TPA's thread have a look at <http://jaguarauc.2ndbyte.com/?&Nav=%208238&page=5&sortResults=RetailPrice|1&stocklistID=823564&MREQ=app_viewVehicleDetails&savedview=0> for a good diesel (42mpg combined cycle), family size 4 door with good performance, although you may want to discuss with your OH passing your car to her and having this one?0

Stuart thats even naughtier than before, if I could give my car to Mrs RT and go and get an XF, XJ or even better an XKR I would. Mind you, my employer might objevct to me giving away my company car !
I think you have picked yourself a very good incentive there, fantastic car that will do everything - you must be feeling like your in the finishing straight on this now !RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004
