Ironically, this year the government have been making it easier for redundant farm buildings to be turned into homes, although local authorities have often done their best to misinterpret the amended guidelines.

Not sure of the relevance Dave as Mr Fidlers was a newbuild so even under the latest rule changes it wouldn't have made any difference to his problems.

Well, he's been banging-on that he needed a house on the site, so it might now be possible to get that. I don't know what outbuildings are available, because I haven't studied his farm.

Of course, the change in policy over redundant farm buildings is not necessarily intended to create ego-tripping property of the type he constructed, but the planners are several steps behind, otherwise I'd not have seen Atcost barns with planning passed for £500k.

The new rules do allow for substantial rebuilding, however. They'd have to.

... which are essentially large cylindrical metal tanks. So I guess he put them in position and built around them. (A bit like some people build homes out of shipping containers.)

If you're thinking the silos were some kind of redundant building, I don't think that's the case.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but scale wise they look far too wide for their height and look a bit hideous imo.

I think he drew in on the back of a ciggy packet and told the bricklayers " build me some brick tubes"..:rotfl:

Would you like someone to contact the mods and delete your post since you have just done what you are asking others not to?
