The secretary of state WAS the final appeal.

It doesn't work like that. You can't just take the UK government to some generalist European court, except in cases of breaches of the European Convention of Human Rights and maybe some very limited others.

Reading between the lines, the show appeared to be suggesting its all starting again, he applied it on the basis for agricultural need after Pickles said no.

This was also declined, but with 90 days for appeals.

No doubt the appeal will be lodged at day 89.

Plus he now also has in Pickles letter that the local planning inspectorate would now approve it, which was over-ruled by Pickles.

He's got years left before it comes down.

That's right. The bit of Devon where I live isn't an AONB or in a National Park.

Obviously, it's rubbish, so please feel free to ignore it, especially if you have a caravan.

I thought he said that he had no intention of appealing and that this was the end of the road.

I know that the Law has been amended to stop people hiding houses they have built whilst they live in them for the 4 years, but what if he had built he house behind a dense line of trees, or in the middle of a woods ?.

I agree he also said a lot he learnt as he went along.
I may be corrected again ..lol, but building control can only become involved in the first year ?
As in they can not come along saying they never passed stages of a build.
Once its passed the 4 year rule its out thier hands ?
Sorry but thats incorrect. Any building that requires building regulations has to be inspected throughout the build process until its finished and complies with the Building regs. Only then will Building Control sign off the build as being complete and complying with Regulations.

In my area Rother District Council have properties that have still to be completed dating back 2 decades. Until they are signed off as complete the owners will struggle to sell them.

Depends on if he intended the arborial camoflage to be removed at the end of the build or not. That was Fidler's intent all along, so the building wasn't "substantially complete" until he did.
Little Red Riding Hood's Grandma intended her house to be surrounded by trees, so their removal or not would have been irrelevant to the house's completion.
