I posted this before the M&S sale - I got slated by other forum users but too be honest it looks like M&S have not improved and I am so glad I didn't wait for an order from them this year.

M&S need to get their act together regarding their online site.

Im sure the people that are happy with their order (myself included) far outweigh the few that have had a problem.

To be honest i dont really see the need for your post, no-one slated you, they simply said don't order then, which you didn't

It says on the return slip that if I take it back instore I have to have a credit note.

I had a look and it says if you receive it as a gift and return it you have to have a credit note, but not if you bought it yourself

I went to M&S Marble Arch this evening. Lots of signs advertising "further reductions" but everything bar one or two items is the same price as last week! Ie bras still £9, knickers at £4 etc. I asked a member of staff and they said the price on the label is what the correct price is.
  • I went to the Bluewater branch late Friday afternoon and there was still quite a lot of gear to be had in the Men's department, although the stuff they had was still there because it was over-priced for what it was, ie they had items that were sticking because there were so many of them and no further reductions appear to have been attempted. Bought a couple of things, but no sign of new lines being added.
In general, Bluewater was heaving; there was certainly no sign of a recession! However, walking round the shopping centre revealed that some shops appear to be running stock down, I assume in advance of a downturn. Zavvi, for example, was worryingly empty in the CD department!
Could it be that the good citizens of the UK will once again shop the country out of a recession?

They seemed to have a lot of stock in Trafford Centre yesterday. I went over to the new homeware shop and bought 4 Autograph silk cushions that were reduced from £35 to £7 each. Better still, they went through on 3 for 2 so I ended up paying £21 for all 4 rather than £140! They also had quite a lot of gift wrap in for £1 a roll and some of it was quite generic and can be used all year round.

Today, in Newcastle's Marks and Spencer's they were reducing their sale stock further. There were some great bargains in the toys and games especially I thought. :Lots of Doctor Who, some good DVD's bargains Wizard of Oz and Singing in the Rain £5 for the 2.

For example I got two jigsaws were £9.50 down to £3 each(with VAT off too)

We're not just a few. After I emailed them this time about the contradictory and misleading emails that led up to them cancelling the whole order, I had a phone call to apologise, saying I was far from alone, and that they are 'very aware' of the failings of their online stock control.
