  • isn't it a bit sad that we've let the 15 pound refund be considered a 'victory'? to remind you, this 15 pounds was not part of the deal and should never have been stolen from our accounts. we've still been conned as we've been given an inferior model of the phone, not the one we bought, and at the very least they should be sending out batteries which is the main difference I believe, and offering more money or credit in the way of compensation for their error. Regardless of if it's NEC or CPW's fault, somebody is accountable for this mistake and somebody must pay.

I'm going to continue to tell trading standards that this remains unresolved until they have AT LEAST given me what I've ordered, which is an e616v at 29.99

Well, I had just sold my e616 in the ebay. But I also order another one from carphone warehouse at £44.99. Just why would I do that? Well, I have to admit that I did like the phone, e616v. For that price, itis one of the best around, esp when you manage to get it unlock.

By now, they would most likely know about the issues of us knowing the different between the two phone. Thus if they did send me the e616, it mean that they are all out to deceive their customer knowingly. But if I got the e616v instead, it will only mean that they do have e616v in stock but are just refusing to exchange the phone that they had sent out wrongly previously.

I will keep you people informed.
  • andrew_b6k,

You are asolutely right the refund is not a "victory", but it does mean that at least people are not out pocket, unlike myself.

I also fully agree that we should have received the NEC E616V phone for £29.99 and that CPW should be held to account on at least the following points,

    1. False advertising on their web site.

    2. Unauthorised withdrawl from my credit card account.

    3. Supply of incorrect goods and attempt to deceive.

    4. Blatant lying by The Carphone Warehouse "internet sales team".

I am sure that there are others that feel strongly enough about this to report them, the more the better.

BIG THANKS to newskiller for hosting the screen-shots, well done mate.

  • I also contacted trading standards about the NEC 616v and am waiting for them to pursue this matter for me. I will keep the group posted on how I get on. I would accept the £15 refund as settlement as I am hoping to give the phone to a member of my family for X-mas
  • I have given up on this. Trading standards told me that if they offered a full refund, then I should take it. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle and at the end of the day, I need the cash :-(

Took phone to local store, they told me that I wasn't the first, paid me the £29.99 for the phone and arranged the £15 "stolen" from me to be sent out within the next week.

The only positive thing is that it has cost CPW a lot more than £15 in dealing with my phone calls, emails and tying up (not literally) the staff in the store for such a long time that potential customers behind me stepped into the link instead.

Good luck to anyone continuing the fight!

    Merry Christmas
  • Trading standards haven't contacted me since phoning me a week or so ago about the matter...I agree that this shouldn't really be considered a victory but it has taken me so much time and effort it certainly feels like one! ;D

As for the e616 being sent rather than an e616v: I'll be taking the matter up with them after christmas and after my refund is actually in my hands :) It's time to enjoy myself now...not worry about the worst company i have ever dealt with!

Has anyone received a £15.00 cheque yet? They promised me one, but then again the bloke in the store promised me that if i rang three customer services they would refund me the £15.00, and that the e616 was exactly the same as the v with updated software ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Further to your messages, I check my phone today,
    and found that was a C616V ???

Anyway, I dont care about the numbers, but, the problem is,
the camera(outer) seems much worse than any other phones I've ever seen. The photos I took using this NEC have toooooooooo many 'noise' pixels on it.

I asked a friend who also got a c616v from CPW, he met the same problem.

I wonder if it is because we are unlucky that we had some flaw phones, or the model itself is just like this.

Or, we have not use suitable settings.
