Oh - I guess it's worth a try. Will get hubby to go over the T & C's too. Just annoying how they dont seem to value existing customers that well.

Hi! I have just phoned Telewest as I have been with them for years now, Probably 4 years I think, and I am paying £25.00 a month for a 1MB connection, when new connections are only paying £17.00 or £14.99 for first three months.

The guy kept telling me I was due an upgrade and would get 4MB soon, I said I am not interested in that, and want to cancel.
He has made a note on my file, and said I will get a reduced rate and I have to ring cmr services between 8am and 8pm tomorrow.

Its worth a try see what they say else I will go elsewhere, there is so much competition for broadband now, I cannot go wrong.

On top of which, Its a saving of £10 a month or at worst £7 a month.
I will post the update what they tell me tomorrow!

Yep that is who i had to ring.

When the upgrade goes through i will be downgraded to 2 meg for £15 a month but i'm happy with that. A tenner is a tenner.

    Hi folks,

Anyone got anywhere getting a discount with BT broadband ????

    I am paying 27quid a month for option 3. For that I get 2meg and 15GB allowance (I need around 10GB a month).

Unfortunately I am not in one of those metropolitan areas where I can get super cheap deals on 8meg etc like ukonline 10quid a mth deals.

    Any tips appreciated.

    Hi jpe20, re "I am paying 27quid a month for option 3. For that I get 2meg and 15GB allowance (I need around 10GB a month)."

Go to demon, 2MB unlimited download/uploads for 19.99!
  • Hi,

With regards to BT, I am currently paying £25 per month. Gave them a call this morning and informed them I'd like to cancel. Put on hold and transferred though to cancellation team.

Usual questions, why are you cancelling, etc...

I stated I could get it cheaper, i.e Tiscali or I could get a better deal with a wireless modem from other providers.

Without a quibble I was instantly offered a reduction in the cost of the 2mb service to £19 per month for the next 12 months and a free wireless modem chucked in. I'm wireless already but will come in handy for my Dad.

Just my experience, but wish i'd done it much earlier. Still a saving so why not give it a go.
