Sold advertising on phone - want to cancel, can I?

Listen carefully to all phone calls, and understand what is being said or agreed, obviously you can say no to any "sales person" not matter how pushy or cunning, its easy!

"NO THANK YOU, GOODBYE" end call!

For a company to send paper work out or invoices out surely something must have been agreed with someone if only verbal.

Can anyone here honestly say that they do not recall agreeing anything? This is madness if Companies are billing people without any order or agreement in place.

Anyone having problems with Weinstein Williams might be interested to know that their offices in Dale Street, Liverpool were raided by the Police and Trading Standards last week. I know because I work in the same building - for a different organisation, thank the Gods. They arrived mob-handed

I was once taken-in by a call from an outfit like this bunch - I don't recall the company name - when I was self-employed. So I know what it's like, and it's why I detest them so much. To cut a long story short they sold me a worthless ad in some 'NHS' publication, so I didn't pay. Eventually the calls, threats etc dried up, and I learned a lesson.

Their office has a high staff turn-over, apart from a few hardcore faces. Arrogant, cocky, rude are just a few of the words that spring to mind to describe some (not all, I admit) of their staff. And you should see the wheels on the bosses (I assume) Bentley. Tasteless isn't the word ...

This company keep pestering me for a payment on advertising I don't want for a magazine suppose to be for the emergency services. I agreed over the phone but then was bomb-barded with phone calls and artwork the very next day and begain to feel this was a scam, so I cancelled it over the phone the very next day. Weeks later Weinstein Williams contacted me for the payment of this ad saying I should of sent them an email, they can only cancel this from the orginal email I sent to cancel it, there is no email I sent so they keep pestering me for money. I sent them an email to say so but they still ringing me up. They are bullying and very intimiating. I never signed anything to agree this ad, how do I stand?

a bully by definition is some one who prays on the weak, so stand up for your self, every one on the last posts have said dont pay they wont do any thing so tell them you are not paying, or you could try asking them for there full name and there home address, date of birth, etc
Why? because it will creep them out

considering you just 'work in the same building' you sound like you are getting a kick out of this - inside knowledge or disgruntled employee maybe?

Have they been shut down or not tho thats what I want to know??

Neither - I used to be self-employed, and I too got taken for a ride by one of these scams, so it's nice to see them suffer some retribution.

It's also nice not to have to share a building with thieving bandits :T

If you've experienced Weinstein Williams'scam, be prepared for more...a company called "Alderleys" is now trying to get the money off you for the same ad. If they send you an invoice, please contact Consumer direct tel 08454 040506, they are very helpful.
