Selfridges
Divertimenti (occasionally)
Waterstones

Are Waitrose discounting at all?0

Either Ocado or Morrisons for food, depending on whether I am at home or at work.
Almost all of the rest of my income goes to amazon, waterstones and John Lewis. Oh and the fag shop. If there was an independent bookshop nearby I would pay extra to shop there. For clothes, almost everything comes from Jigsaw although I do buy socks in ludicrous numbers from M&S.0 -
Tesco
M&S
Argos
PC World
Dell
Boots
& misc shops. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
Sainsbury's for food and online for everything else.0

Mostl Tesco for food, sometimes Aldi and Somerfield and local supermarket (CK).
Most other things on line."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
On a board where you normally see "BTL is an evil business" type comments, it is very strange to see people shopping at Tesco. Are there any of the "BTLers can all rot in hell" brigade that shop at Primark, Tesco, Asda etc.? Not having a go, just seems a bit of a contrdadiction of terms really.
Pour moi:
Food shopping: for cupboard stuff it tends to be in Chinatown and the various indian shops around us. Meat and veg from markets where we can or the Co-op, Morrisons or Aldi when feeling a bit lazier (or anywhere aside from Tesco and Asda really).
Everyday clothes from second hand shops, Ebay and quirky little local places where possible. When not possible Topman, River Island and H&M all do. Suits from Paul Smith when feeling flush, M&S when I'm not.
Any big items (fridges, TVs etc.) I tend to forget my morals to some extent and pricecheck the cheapest online. For everything else I try to make an effort to shop at any local places that are non-chain, are polite and offer good service and value.
Shops I hate for moral reasons: Tesco, Asda, Primark.
Shops I never go in as I think they are sh*te: GAP ("we have these trousers in beige, beige and beige. You did say that you wanted to look like a Yale graduate didn't you?"), All Saints ("Would you like a t-shirt I've scribbled on for £45?), Next (oooh, boring grey / beige work clothes for high prices? No ta...), Kwik Save (the rudest staff in the whole world), Bargain Booze (the concept just bothers me), Barclays (not a shop, but I just hate them), Pret a Manger (Me: "A sandwich please". Them: "£8.75 please".), Homebase (Me" Do you sell hammers?", 16-year old: "What's a hammer? I just work here"), Starbucks (Massively overpriced coffee that you have to queue a long time for. If you ever told me that this business plan would have ever got off the ground I would have laughed at you), Comet (like a cr*ppy version of Dixons and Currys. Which were cr*p in the first place), Matalan (why do I need to join? I just want some cheap socks), Selfridges (all the stuff you buy everywhere else but in Selfridges it a) costs more and b) is served to you by better looking people. You're paying for their Toni and Guy hair cuts people), Toni and Guy (hairdressers for people who have had their soul ripped out).

:embarasse i cant seem to recognise half the names of the shops on this thread. neither can i recognise half the names of the companies that are at risk of going bust or have gone bust (on the other thread about this). looks like i havent been doing much shopping to know about these shops.
anyway i shop at -
groceries often at tesco, sometimes asda rarely sainsbury. often at an asian shop 45min drive away for spices and asian fresh vegetables and for lean meat. i dont like cut and stored packaged meat, i gave up on the M&S / tesco fresh meat counters because when i buy a whole leg of lamb and expect them to cut it into small pieces and remove all the fat they look at me as if i was nuts and grudgingly do it the way i am prepared to buy my food. far less hassle travelling to the butcher at the asian shop who dresses the meat the way i like it as long as i pay him. i cant understand why the supermarket chains cant remove the fat when they cut the meat to make them lean meat. 15-20£ and they cant bloody dress the meat like the customer wants. their loss many customers like me who like lean meat will go elsewhere where the butchers are not lazy and dont grumble when i ask them to remove all the fat in the meat. buy prawns etc from the asian shop as well as it is cheaper plus the king prawns are massive and in comparison the king prawns that tesco sells looks like pygmy shrimps. am a foodie so am particular about what i buy when it comes to cooking.
clothes - no where in particluar as long as it is priced reasonably. matalan, tjhughes, and anywhere basically and NOT M&S, for some reason i never liked their stuff.
shoes - clarks
hair dresser - dont bother with that most times and use a trimmer at home
electronics - internet, currys , comet. johnlewis didnt seem to have the models i wanted everytime i wanted to buy something. heard costco is good but couldnt be arsed to buy their because i couldnt see their prices online and wasnt going to waste time becoming a member or going to their warehouse without being able to see their prices online
computer stuff, off the net or pcworld. used to buy stuff in pcworld even if costlier as i liked their facility of the 'techguys' their instore repair shop which i found convenient. somewhere where i can pay money to get problems sorted. the only reason i wouldnt like pcworld to go under is the techguys.
dvds anywhere mainly sales etc bought hundreds of them in sales from virgin and smaller shops and secoond hand sometimes from blockbuster etc. never bought dvds online even though i know they are cheaper online as all my dvd purchase were spur of the moment buys. would have bought movies for downloads online but they are costlier than dvds (almost double the cost) so abandoned the idea.
furniture - dfs, harveys, local shops, tesco online but havent got around to even unpacking the tesco stuff far less assemble it.
buy stuff off and on from argos which i find convenient and reasonably priced for many things especially at sales times
car - second hand nissan from approved used cars nissan, no problems just fill it (diesel) shut it and forget it apart from yearly service plus 42miles to the gallon to boot for a 2.2 tdci car. had earlier bought an approved used toyota from toyota show room but the rascals conned me and agreed to sell me a car and took my deposit and when i phoned to arrange to collect car a week later told me that they are not giving the car then created problem giving a refund and delayed by a week and only gave refund when i went to show room and created a scene. !!!!!!. good for me i bought a better nissan for lesser money with more gadgets in it like reversing camera etc plus never had any hassles with the car. might as well stick to nissan if i buy another one, my dad also had 2 nissans and a suzuki at various points of time. the nissans never gave any problems to him either. suzuki kept giving clutch problems. had a honda bike elsewhere and it never gave any problems.
for the baby- bought stuff at mothercare, tesco, asda, argos and also hand me downs from others.
airtickets from an agent (by phone) i have used for a few years even if it a few pounds costlier as i like their customer service and i get a proper person on the phone rather than from a monkey who goofs up or a computer.
hotels - online which ever is cheapbubblesmoney :hello:0
