Where do you shop?

Out of interest, when it comes to retail shopping where do you spend *most* of your money....or do you 'shop around' online or in the High Street?

Here is my list :

Tesco, Asda or Morrissons
Amazon (online)
Local Londis shop by the school
Next (online)

Only thing I 'shop around for' tends to be large electricals and then it's online searching not High Street searching.

I thought of a poll but there are sooooo many variables. I'm looking to see how much money actually goes in very few directions. Or, it might just be me because I live rurally and hate shopping, so perhaps my online habits of using very few retailers have been sculpted from that.

Local greengrocer for spuds/eggs/chillies. Half a mile, easy parking.
Tesco for bread flour, cheapo noodles, misc other groceries. Nearest supermarket.
Somerfield for 3am Pepsi Max runs (garage 200 yards away).

Most clothes are charity shops to be honest. The prices scare me otherwise. I am an unusual height/build so could never buy clothes online. I have to try everything on. I just packed to come away and looked into my case and realised everything's black. I don't consciously go for black, but I do like plain clothes and often colours just don't suit me.

If all supermarkets were equidistant, I'd visit them all equally. They all have something special to get. I just go to the nearest one 99% of the time.

I have this theory that the recent relative slowdown in Tesco sales is that Tesco shoppers are more likely to be credit card borrowers /mewers who are cutting back and spending less/going to Asda where as Sainsburys customer demographic are more boring and sensible and are thus less impacted by the reduced availability of credit?
    I think....

Went to Asda today, but didn't get on with it. Normally Sainsbury's.
I will go to a real butcher for Christmas meat.
    I've bought a couple of presents on-line.
Another larger, more specialist present I'm buying locally, because it must be handled, not just picked via a review. Anyway, I should support the local retailers, who are competitive.
Smaller pressies, like smelly candles etc have come from local shops or street stalls.

A bit of a mix; like most people I'd guess.

I live in Brighton (and London some of the time) and I try really, really hard to spend according to my beliefs....but it can be a challenge.

I also run several, personal ''Power of One Campaigns'' against nasty, big, faceless corps...the essence of the campaign being that I spend nothing at all in their stores. I try not to be OCD about it.....but it can get in the way of real life sometimes. I would rather grow and eat my own turnips forever rather than shop @ Tesco for example.

You are away from home, have a manic, desperate urge for caffeine...but...oh no...you were late leaving that am and didn't have time to make a flask......and the urges just get stronger. It's like a battle going on inside you...cave in and give £2 to the evil oligopoly for a fix...or not.

I buy food @ Lidl (wine + tinned toms mainly)

Veg/fruit (in a box scheme) every week from Riverford, Devon...or local farm shop.

Processed, highly addictive cat jelly pouches (that cost more than our own organic meat budget) and The Devils coffee (Nescafe...I know, I know...but I am addicted to the espresso instant) and ryvita from Asda. I have to scoot in and out dead quick so the smoothy music doesn't penetrate my subconscious.

Meat from butcher...but we are quite veggie as I don't do battery or processed.

    Co-op; bread, milk, crumpets.

Taj stores; indie Asian shop selling great, properly proven bread, bunches of coriander etc.

    Are you bored yet???

Clothes...well I own a shop and have access to trade stuff , designer sample sales + the odd bit of rare vintage. I love USA Pro sportswear tho'

Primark is a no no for me..well, TBH, all of the oligopoly, P Green type chains actually.......I like the stuff but ethics and my own self discipline prevent me from indulging. It's hard work being me.;)

Books...I caved in and shopped on Amazon a lot this year but some books I ordered came from indie sellers...so I don't know how much of the devil is in Amazon...plus I may be selling clothing through them next year anyway....cos if you can't beat them join them. :D

For a treat, I would pop up to Spitalfields Mkt. I confess....I have been known to wander around Selfridges..just to stroke the handbgs and play with samples of anti wrinkle cream.
