I'm on PAYG with O2 (after recently swapping from Vodafone)
Notice that Fresh looks to have good rates for calling all mobiles.
Anybody had any experience of them? What is the service area like?

I was with Fresh for a while. Found coverage OK in south east/london (think they use t-mobile) but not as good as vodafone overall. If your making mostly off peak calls, I would recommend using PAYG vodafone again with stop the clock as xnet calls are included. Peak calls on voda are expensive though - I use Orange in the daytime.

Yes - Fresh does use the T-Mobile network to carry their calls so coverage should not be an issue.

Also only 5p texts on Fresh but expensive if you want to look at websites on your phone (15p a min wap). No gprs at present though I did read that this will be offered from next month.

If you buy a FRESH sim card before feb 14th any credit that you put on up until 14th feb will be credited back to your account on the 14th of feb (max credit back will be £100)

they use tmob for signal, calls at 15p per min and 5p per sms.... good rates... cant go wrong

I bought a fresh payg mobile and was very disappointed. The reception was poor in Aberdeen and non existent in many areas. I guess it depends on where you live and I would ask the shop to demonstrate signal strength in your area - before you buy!

Reception on O2 is much better here

i know i'm new here but i'll never pay 15p a minute for a call and say good rates, mine is line rental, last year i was paying 99p a month "free 750 minutes
off peak and 100 text",but this year i decided to go crazy and spend more, £8 a month line rental " free 500 minutes any time any network and free 100 text" i do not touch my land line it's for receiving calls and internet.i still think i could of done better ... i found £5 a month line rental.... too late now.

And if you cant pass a credit check? then what? many people are on payg for a reason :( (Not myself but I know of alot of people who are)

Fresh is Cheap COMPARED to other pay as you go prices, people will obviously get better prices on a contract but thats not the discussion here. the original poster asked

Anybody had any experience of them?

If the credit expires within 90 days is that such a big downfall for a network?
Remember back in the day when the other networks did this?

And anyway with a minimum top-up of a fiver, 11mins a mth over the 3 mths whos really bothered if you lose a couple of pence, you will have saved that compared to the other networks

Example Low user on Tmobile everyone plan pays 30p per min any network compared to 15p with fresh
Xnet call on orange is 35p off top of my head 40p maybe with o2 payg on a standard tariff, virgin is 35p per minute xnet...

So ill stand by original quote afterall everyone is entitled to an opinion?

    "Can't go wrong!"

Ive had no probs with fresh yet, I get exactly the same signal as I do on my T-mobile contracts and my voda contract in my area

Of course you can go wrong. Surely it depends on what his usage will be as to whether the service suits him best.As he is on 02 .Tesco Mobile(Runs over O2) 10p a minute to call ,5p to text to 3 best friends any network. might suit him better.Without any loss of credit .(Must make one call/text every 6 months.)

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but then so are other members.
