Help!! Item sent to wrong address

I sold an item last week, and the buyer asked for next-day delivery. Item details showed address in Lincolnshire and label was duly printed and item sent.

Buyer says item has not arrived and asked if I'd sent to the correct address. In Essex! Looking at the Paypal payment now, this does show the Essex address.

I've sent the item to someone in Lincolnshire (who I take to be related, as they have the same surname).

I'm just waiting for my hubby to email me the tracking number, but what's happened??!!

Yes. I've got it wrong, haven't I? I just saw the buyer's details, made a label, then posted as soon as I received the payment email.

In fact, the Lincolnshire address is nowhere to be seen now. Could the buyer have changed his details?

Oh dear, I can't really think of anything encouraging to say..I'm sorry. Hopefully if the Lincolnshire address is a relative they will be happy to repost it (at your expense) special to the Essex address?

It would have been helpful if he'd mentioned it was a different address at the time, given the urgency. Hopefully they're visiting for Christmas. :o

It is quite common to have different address with ebay and paypal...it is only the Paypal one that matters and I certainly never even loook at the ebay one.

Send them a message asking if they have changed their address since winning the item, as you sent it to their Lincolnshire address that was listed on their ebay account at the time.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It went by Parcelforce, guaranteed next day. At huge expense.

Emails with the buyer reveal it's her ex's account and he is still there. So she can pick it up. I've told her I'll reimburse her expenses.

However, it's showing as in transit - collected from PO on 19/12. Nothing since. If they'd tried to deliver and there was no one home, would it show as a failed delivery in tracking?

i have never thought of that before. i always send to ebay address and have never got caught out once and i sell tonnes. Not entirely your fault they should have mentioned it. i would say it was posted to the address that you gave ebay and give tracking details and hopefully they will sort it.
