Update ......
Well with the assistance of the Financial Ombudsman I've finally had my 49.99 returned back in to my account. Will now look to chase up the £63 that I had to pay in bank charges as a result of this unauthorised withdrawal.
Let you know how it goes0 -
well I wish I had read this before being scammed!! I was in a desperate finanical situation where I needed £1000 fast, since I missed 1 visa payment my credit score is not letting my bank lend me the money. Just as I thought there was no hope, the phone rings and it's direct finance...The girl I spoke to seemed really nice and listened to my disaster story and told me they could certainly help get me out of the mess I was in. She clearly faked a credit check and said I had been approved and would pass me onto the underwriter...I answered a few more questions and then this 2nd woman said...and I quote.."im excited to say that we can lend you the money"...I bet she was excited...another sucker...this is the rare occasion when I would be happy to smack a woman straight in the face!! She then said the forms would be sent out within 48 hours, all I do is sign and return and I'll have my money within 7 days!! Perfect I thought...then came the 49.99 fee...I figured, I dont care...I got the loan so I'll pay the fee...assured it would be taken on completion!! Actually ...it was within 24 hours! Yep...you guessed it...no forms..no answer on the phone...returned email from the info@ address as not known address and no reply from customer care. What astounds me more than the scam itself is that he can get what seem perfectly nice people, who know the people they are scamming are broke which is why they come to them and not a bank, and are willing to do all this for what...very little pay. This is the last straw for me...my life this year has been one disaster after another and i'm so close to going to the office and burning it down...I'll gladly do my time...at least theres free food in there!! And with any luck all those scammers who work there will be in it when it burns! I really dont have time to be chasing this up for the next 6months...although I suppose I will have to. The human race disgusts me!0

If you get any emails out of the blue telling you that you have won millions... would you believe that too??
It's no wonder these companies make mi££ions.Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling0 -
actually, I'm usually very astute when it comes to things like this and i'm surprised at myself for been caught up in this. Desperation is a powerful force unfortunately...but thanks for the response...makes me feel a whole lot better!0

Hi All,
I fell for the same scam most of you have written about here. Direct Finance said they had found me a loan as long as all my details I had given them by telephone were correct, took a £39.99 fee then NOTHING!
I wrote to them asking for a refund of the fee by recorded delivery they received the letter, guess what??? More NOTHING!
The phone number they gave was constantly engaged and when I finally did get through I was told I had the wrong department and was given another number that did not exist.
In the end I referred it all to the financial ombudsman who wrote to them on my behalf. Then we waited a while nothing happened so the ombudsman escalated things to an investigation.
I then get a call from Direct finance asking me to send a copy of the bank statement showing the fee they took from my account and they would refund me. Emailed this with all other data on the statement blacked out on 23rd of October.
On the 29th I got a letter from them asking me to send a bank statement showing the payment THE SAME REQUEST AGAIN!!! This letter was sent 5 days after they received my email. More delay tactics. All those emails and letters have been sent to the ombudsmans investigation department to further escalate things.
I called the telephone number on the letter to tell them and got a recorded message "Thank you for registering your vote" that probably cost me £1.50 INCREDIBLE!!
Highly recommend if you have been ripped off by this company and have copies of bank statements and any info from Direct finance you get in touch with the ombudsman. They are VERY helpful and WILL pursue this for you free of charge. Just google "financial ombudsman" you will find it.
They are big enough and powerful enough to get these con artists calling me and I feel sure I will get the fees back. Who knows if enough of you complain they may shut these idiots down. :T0 -
