hi all,
yes yes yes, i know it's stupid to give money to these people but i asked them to confirm 3 times on the phone that i had been accepted for a loan. i was told that "it's ok sir, all our calls are recorded and can be reffered back to at any time". i was told the paperwork would be through in 2 days and the loan would be finalised within 10 days, sound familiar guys??
anyway, i realised i'd been stupid almost immediately, i phoned my bank to stop the payment ~same day~ unfortunately, it's as good as cash.
i phoned direct finance and was told to send a copy of my bank statement showing charge leaving and a letter and i would get my money back in a week. i sent this via recorded delivery.
i heard nothing for 4 weeks and went to financial ombudsman.
i filled out the forms online and received a reply in a couple of days.
they said that they had sent my complaint form to direct finance and they have 8 weeks to resolve situation or i should contact ombudsman again.
WITHIN TWO DAYS direct finance RANG ME and told me i was entitled to a refund and paid £44.99 of my £49.99 back into my account.
when i asked why it had taken all this trouble to refund (after i had followed their instructions to the letter) i was told they had a new 'system' in place for managing refunds????
this is proof of guilt, they know what they are doing, and rely on people not being bothered or being too embarassed to follow this up.
go to ombudsman people and get your money back.0 -
I've just had a similar experience with them as you,I was told I was approved for a £750 loan, like you I was so pleased. They asked for card details,I didn't have any of mine on me,but I had my hubbys card.I said this jokingly and the fella said that was ok,they weren't going to take any money but they needed a card number.
checking the bank statements today and they have taken the £49.99 out of hubbys account,i'm furious!!!!!!!! I tried to ring them, waiting on the phone, next in the queue ..hmmmnn 20 mins later I hung up!!
I will ring them tomorrow, but I was wondering,as they took it out of hubbys account, without his authorisation...does anyone know if i can do something about this??
thanks
Hi everyone, I personally know the owner of the company, Mr Syed Fawad - he is a young chap in his early 20's of pakistani origin and lives in a run down area of Newport called Pilgwenly, he does have high aspirations and will do anything to gt there. He used to work for a company called yes loans based in Cwmbran just over a year ago before he set up this shifty business.
Up until recently he was broke, but once he mastered the art of ripping people off for £50 through this business his luck seems to have changed. His view is that £50 is a small enough amount that people who have been ripped off will in the end 'give up chasing for a refund'
YOU MAY HAVE WONDERED IF THEY REALLY DO GIVE OUT LOANS?....NO ONE EVER GETS ANY LOAN.... IT'S ALL LIES... THEY DONT EVEN CREDIT CHECK THEMSELVES AS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE FACILITY. THEY INSTEAD REFER YOUR CASE TO A 3RD PARTY WHO DECLINE ALMOST 95% OF ALL APPLICATIONS.
The entire ethos of Fawad is to make as much money as possible while he can. He only employes naive young students/ school leavers and often does not pay them or keeps delaying payments of wages until they cotton on and leave.
I have personally complained to the OFT about his activities however i think they are too busy eating doughnuts and having plenty of civil servant tea breaks to look into the complaint. The excuse given by them..."you could be making a malicious complaint against a perfectly decent business"
I once went into the shoddy ground floor office premesis on Commercial Road. He was sitting at his desk with a huge grin as one of his lads just closed another deal and took credit card info from another punter. At which point he jumped up from his chair and shouted "comeon! lets keep it up and rip these b*****ds off! ha ha" gleefully.
He currently has around 20 staff on partime and fulltime hours. All of his employees are either students looking for a bit of extra cash or people on the fiddle earing a bit on the side.
his employees are told to put the customer on hold for a couple of minutes to simulate that they are carrying out a credit search, while they are infact doing nothing! They don't even have credit search facilities!!!! then after a minute or two they go back to the customer and say 'CONGRATULATIONS! you have been accepted as a customer of Direct Finance Uk LTD!!!' before asking for card details. They really know how to play on a customers fears and desires!
It disgusts me that the silly fools at the OFT are reluctant to do anything about this scam at the expense of low wage families, who are struggling to make ends meet and look toward a 'agreed' loan as a breather for their finances. Fawad is making lots more money since the credit crunch has hit as people everywhere are looking for loans.
Part of their stategy is to let disgruntled customers call back on a telephone number that is purposefully never answered!.... what genius!
They anticipate that disgruntled customers will get frustrated waiting for an answer and just 'draw a line on their losses and move on' and guess what..... IT WORKS A TREAT!
I just hope people wise up and not provide card details over the phone.
If this idiot is to be stopped then please please please, everyone who has had money taken from their account please contact the OFT (office of fair trading) and complain. If enough people do this then they will have to pull their finger out and investigate.

Hi All - and I think if you get to read this youve either been scammed like me oe checking for some info on this so-called company that call themselves directfinanceuk.com... I wish I read this forum before I was suckered out of £49.99.
There is no Loan..but these guys have it off to a T.. firstly they contact you, go through the details...and then say they will get back to you in 10-15mins once the underwriter runs past my details...and yep you got it, my phone rings to tell me Im getting a Loan and the papers are on there way out for me to sign etc....oh and we need £49.99 for our fee...so I give them my details.... 1 week later, no word back..so I tried on numerous occasions to call... you are put in a Q and you will hear someone pick up the phone, say nothing at all, then drop it on you...so your placed back into the Q... I did speak to one girl who seemed to have mistakenly answered... she was quite abrupt when I asked if the forms have been sent out.. she said her system is down but the forms are on there way out...then she drops the clanger 'Have you paid the 49.99, cause if you havent I can do that for you now'.. I said I paid and she hung up..I have also emailed them 3 times...no answer back...
Now Im a pritty calm and stable guy, but I do not like to be scammed (and yes I know I was wearing blinkers on this occasion).. but heres what I intend to do.. Firstly I will be contacting my solicitor (Very good friend of mine form an extrmely reputable law firm).. mty solicitor will advise me on what she can do..and beleive me she will do it!!! all the way!!!..secondly, I will be calling the Office of Fair Trading, and I will also supply them with a very detailed email,.. Thirdly.. I will be contacting the FSA by phone to advise them on this company, I will also write to them so they can record it on their systems....I will never let this go by.... So folks here is a warning, do not be an idiot like me and fall for their SCAM... Stay completely clear of this so called finance broker..0 -

I applied for a loan with Direct Finance over 10 weeks ago paid the £49.99 fee and to date have received no money, I got a call telling me I had been accepted for a £2000 loan, I was happy as I am a student who needed some extra cash for my fourth coming wedding, imagine how I feel now knowing I am one on many people who have been conned, I have tried phoning over and over, put on hold for as long as 40mins only for someone to hang up on me, tried to leave a message to be told the mailbox is full, I have also emailed them twice and surprise surprise no reply. Is there anyway to try and get my fee back????0

Hi folks,
I had my dealings with Direct Finance UK in April 2009, who took 49.99 from my account (unauthorised). As a result I also incurred £63 in bank charges for misuse of card and going overdrawn.
Anyway I didn't let it lie and chased up the company who did forward me a cheque out and guess what??? yep it bounced.
I have passed all my correspondence over to the Financial Ombudsman who are now pursuing it.
This is something I'm not letting slip, I've got the bit between my teeth and will keep pushing until I get the 49.99 returned and the £63 in bank charges as a result of the unauthorised withdrawal.
Will let you know how it goes0 -
Attention important please read!!!
