Has anyone used Filmnight? (DVD shop)

Are they generally OK , or a bit ropey?

I ordered 'The Day After Tomorrow' dvd for a christmas present on 26th Nov. I've not used Filmnight before, but they were slighly cheaper than the other DVD shops so thought I'd give them a go.

I got a confirmation email straightaway, then heard nothing more. So I just checked my order status this morning, only to find it says 'order cancelled' on the 29th  ???  >:(

I didn't ask them to cancel, and they certainly haven't emailed to warn me or give a reason. The DVD is still for sale on the website & says delivery normally within 3-5 days, so it doesn't look like it's out of stock.

Their CS is closed on the weekend (typical) so I've emailed about it, but in the meantime was wondering what people think of their service in general?

well I ordered a DVD from them earlier on in the week, as a first time buyer, so just waiting to see if it turns up, but it isn't released until next weekend, so I'll have to wait a while longer to see if it arrives!

although going on what you said, I'm going to go and check my order!!!

  • I ordered the same DVD on 30/11 and its on Back Order.

According to the website you need to order by 10th of December if it is to arrive by Xmas so I'm concerned that it will not be back in stock in time...

I'll chase this with CS on Monday.
  • I ordered a few discs, took about 12 days to come. A bit slow but no problems. :)

Well, I'm even less impressed now. I sent an email to their complaints email address as I'm not happy that they gave me no notification or reason as to why they cancelled.
The email has been returned as undeliverable as the address has 'transient non-fatal errors'... whatever that is. Something about 'name server timeout'. ???

Shall have to try & ring Monday.

Before I ordered Return of the King from them I sent an email to ask how they'd deal with excessive demand - I got an answer the same day, so was impressed enough to make the order.

Having seen this thread I've checked my order and it says it was despatched yesterday. I'm a little dubious of this cos it's not meant to be released for another week, but I'll let you know if it arrives early.

Ok,I give up with this shower.
Attempted to contact them by phone 4 times(0870 number of course),and sent an e-mail .E mail unanswered, and phone diverted to answerphone.
If the card was declined(I know not why),they should send an e-mail to let you re-enter details on the website.
So have cancelled, and reordered for the same price from 101 cd,who are much better.
Who needs this hassle for a 9 quid dvd?

Despite never ever hearing of them before, I used them last week as Kelkoo threw them back at me as being the cheapest for the Father Ted boxset. I ordered ,presuming the item was in stock. When I had ordered, I received a confirmation e-mail telling me that my order would be dispatched in 3-5 days. I checked my account yesterday and it said "ITEM OUT OF STOCK", with no indication as to when it might be back in stock. I duly cancelled and went with the slightly more expensive, but then again more trustworthy option of play.com.

To be honest I found their order process to be quite shoddy and cheaply put together compared to other online stores I've used.
