  • When all is said and done, she is little bear's only auntie, her daughter is little bear's only cousin and dear heart is very short of family. Sigh.

There's something to be said about having biological family. Some of it I can't repeat here. :rotfl: I am one that has family of the heart. We're not biologically related at all yet if I had to choose someone to be bio family, they would be it. It has given me a wonderfully large extended family. At the age of 46, I still call the ones I dubbed uncles as a child my uncles.

It's more important that Little Bear knows he's loved for just the wonderful child he is to me. Regardless of who it is that loves him. Don't let her put a guilt trip on you hun.

    Big hugs to you,
    Peyton xxx

    Evening all :hello:

I haven't been reading the Daily much over the last few days and haven't yet caught up with people's news, but I gather ((((hugs)))) are in order for some people. Hugs to beth and smoky. Smoky, I will be thinking about you and the children this Christmas - yours is one of four young families I'm aware of who have lost their Dad this year. I hope Christmas is as enjoyable as possible for you all.

I am not going to be on here much over the Christmas period as I'll be at my mum's most of the time. I have got in touch with two old schoolfriends on Facebook over the weekend, one of whom, it turns out, lives really near my mum. So I am going to suggest she might want to go for a coffee while I am over there.

I've finally got my Christmas tree sorted - I got a bigger tree than I'd planned, and didn't have enough lights, so had to go to Robert Dyas today for some extras. It's all finished now, and looks lovely - and I sat down for a nice glass of ginger wine, which is a little personal festive tradition of mine.

Anyway I haven't had my tea yet - so must be off :) It'll be a portion of the Jamie Oliver recipe chicken korma I made a couple of days ago. That cookbook is getting so much use!

    Love Rzl xx

  • Well what fun - we have had a romantic dinner by candlelight tonight! I was just putting out the gravy when phut, off went all the lights, pitch black. DH found torch, we got out the candles, ate our dinner, then I went wandering outside to see if everyone's lights were out. Only a few were, NDN and lady opposite came out, with their torches and we were stood chuntering away on our drive for 10 mins.

I nearly cried when I read your comment about posting late last night about your worrying news as someone might complain it was not "old style"!

What could be more old style than sharing our worries and our good news along with recipes, tips, hints and ideas?

You are one of us - please don't be scared to post!

DD has managed to come home for Christmas - but her suitcase has not - so had a mad dash to buy her a cheap "emergency" capsule wrdrobe of clothes.

One pair of jeans, one top, lingerie and make up at Tesco and she bought six tops including a hoodie at Peacock for about £25!!!!! Good thing that her Christmas pressies include some make up. perfume and a voucher for Boots.

Made pizza dough in the Panny and added loads of cheese, sliced onions, peppers, mushrooms to the topping and DDs loved it.

Had left over mashed potato and added milk. flour and seasonings to turn it into potato cakes.Very picky DD (19) tried one and decided it was nicer than the ones that you can buy!!!! Still in shock!!!

Panasonic now has a spicy fruit loaf being prepared in it - first time I have done this so fingers crossed!!

If SIL adores littlebear then upsetting his mum is not a good move. Any comments about housekeeping etc can be countered with "Well , I could concentrate on my child and his happiness and welfare or what someone else thinks!" "I decided my child took priority!"

Am I a bad Mum for finding it hilarious that DD who "hated potatoes" loves my potato cakes?;)

Not a bad mum at all. I always have gotten a laugh when my youngest son, who hates everything, finds out he really likes it after all. :rotfl: It's a mum's perogative to find it hilarious. ;)
