OP, if the pristine condition of your furniture is that important to you then don't put any old !!!! on it.
File this one under "Won't Take Responsibility For Own Actions".0 -
i can only assume that there was a hot drink in the mug which you think the coaster would withstand the heat. write to them, send them a pic of your table and tell them the coster is obviously faulty...i feel a product recall coming on...and for me not to give this set to my bro-in-law as i have the same one i think....doh!
good luck!

Wow what a fabulous idea! A table designed just to look at and not to use, dont know why I didnt think of it before!
And obviously the pristine condition is important to fay, hence she used a coaster on it! The definition of coaster being a "dish or mat that protects furniture from moisture and heat".......0 -
Ignore the muppet trolls on this thread. They offer nothing to the forum except their bile.
I know from working for a certain company that we had these sorts of queries before. Some were genuine, some were customers trying to pull a fast one.
Write to the distributors and explain the problem, sending pictures too. Give them a timescale within which to respond and request them to send somebody like Stainmaster to inspect the item - or volunteer to have it done at their cost.
Hopefully you'll get some satisfaction from them, but if not speak to the CAB and your insurers.0 -
they said table and £1200
Stop trolling kthnx
She said the table was part of a set (that would mean more than a table:rolleyes:). Trolling? Are you for real?
FF, I would be livid - a coaster is meant to prevent damage, not cause it! I also wouldn't want to go through my insurer, and then have a claim against me for the next 5 years - why should you take the hit for rubbish merchandise that has damaged your furniture? Let the manufacturer claim off their insurer!
I would call Consumer Direct or TS or whatever they are now and establish who is responsible. Oh, and if you had to use a substance other than polish to clean the residue then that is down to the cause (ie the coaster), not your stupidity, which was implied earlier:rolleyes:0 -
How about Matt Groening. He must be really rich and also designed that Krusty character who does all the merchandised stuff. He must be used to law suits dropping through the door.
Of course. Who's to say the sticky stuff wasn't put there by the shop/distributer/ secret santa or someone else. Who's to say the instructions for use said "not for use with hot mugs and delicate finishes on tables". You might have broken the terms and conditions of use!!!
You could sue me for being on this thread too?0 -
Contact a french polisher and find out how much it will cost to repair the table, I am ex furniture industry and we used to use them all the time. It will certainly cost considerably less than £1200 or the cost of a new table.
If you can't find out the licence holder for the product, then Fox should hold a list of all licensed product holders. There is of course a risk that it is unlicensed. Fox's licences are held by Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I know there's 'no such thing as a stupid question', but it doesn't mention stupid answers!0 -
