Have you tried a low-carb diet? That would help with the blood pressure and cholesterol as well as the weight.

I use Orlistat or Xenecal (sp) as it's called. TBH it REALLY doesn't make you loose loads of weight, basically it's more you making healthy choices because the after effects aren't pleasant. Yes maybe an lb or 2 is down to passing the fat, but don't expect a massive weight loss. Also, don't do what I did, think "Oh wow, diet pills I can eat what I want and I'll just poop it all out" wrong! You will still gain weight if your eating rubbish!

Regarding the following through, I have never done that, but I advise you to fart on the toilet:rotfl: even if you haven't eaten fatty foods like burgers/sausages/crisps, even "healthy" things contain some fat.

It CAN make you a bit gassy, so it can be a bit noisy on the loo, and you may want to keep some sort of FLASH spray to spritz down the loo after you go, because the bowl will look like pasta sauce and it is a nightmare to clean off! The flash takes it straight off.:p

my mother had reductil last year but it didnt reeally work

its an appetite suppresant and she did eat less and not feel as hungry but didnt really lose any weight - however my mother is 64 and possibly has a very slow metabolism due to her age and a lifetime of yoyo dieting

i would recommend a low carb way of eating maybe even gi diet type thing ( am loathe to use the term diet !! )

Yes I have and no luck. Have been hunting the net for something on this and have seen 'yeast overgrowth in the gut' which shows most of my symptoms however says doctors dont like to acknowlege it the website says. Think I will talk to doctor about this first as a possibility as diet pills last resort.

    lrr,

It may be worth asking for a referral to a dietician. With your thyroid problem, your needs will be different to those without the condition. I am in the same position, I have always been big but since I have had thyroid problems things have seemed pretty hopeless diet wise! Good luck x
    Gone ... or have I?

if there the same as the ones my OH had, every time you eat something fatty it makes your poo all oily and she was prone to `following through`
suffice to say she soon gave em up.

Sounds like a threat :rotfl: Don't eat fat or else :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • I can totally empathise with Irr. I just can't lose weight due to the medication I'm on. I'm a veggie too, so don't eat fatty foods really. Never tried any diet pills, not 100% convinced that they work.

Exercise/health eating ain't always the answer, especially if the weight problem is caused by health issues.

Glad to hear im not the only one having this problem. If I start on these pills will let you know if they work as at a complete loss what to do if they dont.
