As people get fatter, I've found it harder to get trousers to fit as I have a 30" waist.
Both OH and one of my sisters whinge about that. OH is either 30 or 32, depending on the cut, and Eleanor has a 25 inch waist but very long legs, and complains nothing fits....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Embarrassingly, as we don't have telly and I only watch the odd thing on i plyer, I dodn't know what the new winner looks like...
Me neither, didn't know it was a she, either!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

25 inch waist and complaning... the burdens of being thin eh? I recently learned about "vanity measurements" where the store will mark something as 32 inch waist when it's actually 34 inch just to make the buyer feel better."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -
Although I've never met you, fc, I find myself keeping my fingers crossed for your business.
I hope you do well...and I am dying to know more about the knitwear...0 -
Yes, very best of luck fc. Do give us a link when you have the knitwear set up (though I guess its going to be too expensive for me

...except for my business...I should know really....have been very lazy about updating my celebridee knowledge.....too busy indulging my ''Learn about economics'' hobby.:Dneverdespairgirl wrote: »Me neither, didn't know it was a she, either!
Worse, major celeb who buys clothes from us for her reality show (bought in product mainly) came in coupe of weeks back ...and asked what I thought about show...and I said..ummm...jolly good show...ummm.....yup you looked lovely...I don't think I said the right thing.
Bit like you not knowing whereabouts in the world your client is from.....and vainly trying to remember which bit of the atlas they originate from as the judge stares at you.0 -
I don't think so....from the yarn costings (nice merino yarn no less) I have looked at, it isn't that pricey. Thing is, all the mainstream retailers have such a huge mark up now....prices are distorted.Yes, very best of luck fc. Plus, a whole untreated sheep fleece is worth Max £1....enough wool, once spun, for 2 jumpers.
I can't work out why it's unviable...I actually don't think UK wool products are finacially unviable...but they must be as they are no longer available for sale anywhere mainstream..............perhaps because the retail magnates need to earn a fat salary?? plus spare for a boat, mansion, high maintenace wife and unlimited totty on the side?? All adds onto the mark up I guess.
My bootyliscious frocks (albeit body fascist in styling so not suitable for all) are made in Leicester, Yarn made and knitted in Prato, Italy and I double up on cost...then I sell on. They then have a mark up of X 3 from my price....and they sell from £40 - £60 per unit.0 -
I have noticed that clothes sizes seem to be getting bigger, I have gained weight this year but I'm still a size 12 apparently.
I forgot what this thread was about then, I looked on the Superdrug website earlier but didn't know if I was just buying stuff for the sake of it so I didn't bother.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Vanity sizing. A size 12 has always been the 'Average''. The average now is much bigger.
I have some ancient darted pattern blocks from the 60's marked Model Size 12. They are like a modern day size 8 and for a shorter height (5'3''say).
We changed our size grades some time back.
ETA I am same size now as I was age 20. Then I used to wear a 12/14 as I am tall. Now I wear 8/10.0 -

Kids are getting taller though aren't they, if I find myself beside schoolkids at a bus stop they completely dwarf me.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
