Ooh, a sofa isn't always a luxury - there's only so long our sofas can survive under their £2 Primark throws - the kids have jumped on them and shredded them to bits underneath, but I'm loathe to get new ones while little one is still at the weeing/drawing etc on furniture stage....

As people get fatter, I've found it harder to get trousers to fit as I have a 30" waist.

I'm the same; Next is the only decent place round my way with trousers that fit. M&S is dreadful in that respect, they seem to start at 34' at my branch. Mind you it was worse when I was a meagre 28', but I now work close to a fast food place and it is having an effect :)

Sounds like my sofas! I currently have loads of pillows etc stuffed down a blooming great hole in one of them where the base has sort of collapsed beneath the covering....

They will have to make do until I can find suitable replacements via freecycle.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

The Independent also identified JJB and Jessops being in trouble. Bailiffs have turned up to some JJB stores.

It sounds like by the end of next year, Britons will have the choice of Tesco, Sainsbury and fc123 to buy from.

I will take that as a vote of confidence ;)

I am starting on a bit of UK made knitwear next march (for winter 09)...found a factory that was making loads for extremely well known UK brand. They just got dumped for the Far East.

I am trying really hard not to be scared.

Mind you, got a PR call today and had to send some samples for an X Factor shoot. Embarrassingly, as we don't have telly and I only watch the odd thing on i plyer, I dodn't know what the new winner looks like.....had to rush out and check out a Heat....but I know who Leona is.

If it comes off I will update the thread just to have a little non self effacing brag.

Will my Real Life Land shop still be around next year? I don't know if there will be takers for the lease....

I have anonymously dressed lots of 'celebs' over the past 2 decades. The problem is that the PR doesn't necessarily pay the bills. An item can get press, no-one knows where it's from as I am an unbranded (coolest of the cool BTW) label. It then gets trashed by a chain doing a nasty copy.

This time ~(because I am older and wiser) I will find out if any item is used and bang out the production in 7 days in Leicester....have already got factory on standby.
I only make £££ from the units I actually sell....all the other fluff and stuff is just...well..stuff really.

Wish you the best, fc123, it honestly is heartening to see accounts of attempting to expand business during such troubled times. Hoping to hear positive news on your progress next year
