Helloo All
I am back from our little frugal holiday to Devon.
Was very lucky as my Auntie lives in an old people complex and they have a little guest suite that rellies can use for free so we didnt have to pay for accomodation. Auntie also cooked us breakfast and tea each day so we only had to pay for lunch. We did loads of free things like visit the donkey sanctuary and the beach. Pip paddled for the first time and tried to eat sand!!
Naming Ceremony was very nice except MIL put a huge dampner on things. She hogged Pip and even took him outside away from the other guests. My friend said to me that I must be glad that i have the C section scar or everyone would think he was her son. She glared at guests and made them feel very uncomfortable, to the point that some went home early. OHs sister has been caught on video saying she would "Grab him back from the other weirdos". OH is very upset and angry about it all and is going for a showdown tomorrow. He says if she kicks off he will have nothing more to do with her. It sounds dreadful but we cannot see any other way to improve it. She has turned what should be very happy times in our life into stressful ones.
Other than her showing off we had a lovely day, the sun shone and everything went smoothly.

So MSE stuff:- Sent off 2nd WTC/CTC forms to HMRC and hope they dont lose this one
- Sent off claim form for my £2000 savings
- Dodgy lodger has agreed topay me £10 a week
- Still meal planning
Been discussing with Mum and OH about hours and stuff for when I go back to work, aiming for beginning of September. Thinking of either 8-4 Mon & Tues then 8 - 12 Weds or 8 - 2 Mon, Tues and Weds ?Any thoughts?
Not sure how that would affect Tax credits?
Also need some advice on pureeing for Pip. I did some carrot for him today and pushed it through a sieve but what else can I do? Can I batch cook it and freeze it? Rags I know you puree for DS2, any tips?

Super rags to the rescue!!!!!! ha ha ha!!! i seem to spend my life either working or pureeing!!!!!!
anyway, i have always cooked in batches and frozen (otherwise you will be chained to the kitchen and be very organised, which im not) I have got a hand blender and i just pop the fruit/veg/owt else in a jug with a little of the water they have been cooking in (or boiled water if steamed) and whizz up. I then painstakingly spoon it into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen i transfer them to labelled bags so i can reuse the trays!!!! I use the trays that are 99p for 2 in morrisons as they arent solid so its easier to get the cubes out without faffing bout steaming over the kettle.
carrot is a good one to try as its sweet, i also did to start:
sweet potato, butternut squash, parsnip, turnip, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, pears, banana (cant freeze)
now ds2 is well into his food we do:
red pepper and courgette (this is also nice with pasta or as a soup) potato with peas and mint, carrot and pea together, parsnip and apple (his fav) root veg mix, peaces, strawberries, cheese sauce, rice pudding, custard and anything else that can be blended like mince, casseroles etc. did pureed fish in a cheese sauce the other day and that went down well. I look at the jars of food available for ideas then do my own.........
Check out the local libarary for some books on weaning, annabel karmel is the queen of weaning (had a thought, think she has a website???)
My rule of thumb is if it can be pureed, then i do.
How big has pip got???!!!! (still a cutie though.....) loving your dress!!!!!!
hope i havent bored you to death about purees!!!!!!
love rags

Hi there
What a bonny photo
Listen I have this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0755316045?
which was given to me free and its sitting in my house with children who are um lets say not really weaning and toddlers anymore.....:)
Have a look and see if you think you'd like me to post it.
Its full of the kind of things that I eventually found out and after I read it I thought - OH bl**Dy great someone's written a book I needed 12 years agoits brilliant.
Have copy here
Have stamps
Have no use for it
We use to cook everything without salt (still do) and whatever we had the munchin monsters got as well like Rags said all whizzed up. I used chocolate trays (i know it sounds insane) but it does work and mine lasted for ages to freeze the gloop (um nutritious food in) - they are thin and means you prob have to eat a box of choccies to get you started.
Gorgesous dress, baby and hubby in no real order
Gorgeous Pips mum!!!
Workning? I'd go for 3 days less hours - but its your call really if you think you can do the longer shifts xx
Slopes off and stops interfering now.........waves to Rags as well xx
Edits in - sorry just been a slagging evil non human demon on my own diary (about my evil non human supervisor) and I clearly don't want to go to hell so I need to balance all the aggression and do something wonderful and nuturing too - so its only fair I offer something nice to you - tis the ying and yang of karma - one bad bit out another good one offered
BY the way are you OH's family just insane? Or is it just the female ones? The MIL and the SIL sound like they arebeing female animals that rhyme with witches??Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Good point - I am a year in to PhD - my issue is that I need money and this is funded. So I need to slowly get through it or give up I think. No idea which way it will go at the moment.
To be honest I am not sure I am PhD material - but I have brain that somehow won't stop trying to learn stuff. Ta for the info will check it out a bit more.
My prob is that I was married to a farmer and loved the life so much that I just miss being a mum at home all the time - lol how sappy do I sound
Basically I want to be Barbara in the Good life except with better socks and childre- but I don't have a Tom and thesedays we are supposed to work at a job as well as being a mum
I should have been born in the 50's - whoops Pips mum sorry about hijcaking your threadTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Hijack away!!!
Thankyou Fay that would be lovely but let me pay you postage at least.
Using chocolate trays is pure genius!! I said to OH not half hour ago that I need to BUY some icecube trays but not now as I have a box of Thorntons downstairs, oh darn it that means I will have to eat all the chocs quickly!!:rotfl:
Just been watching the Secret Millionaire for free on 4oD. Wouldnt it be lovely to just give away tens of thousands of pounds to worthwhile people? But its equally lovely to give books to people you have never actually met :A Its funny because I talk to you lot daily and feel I know you all well, the wonders of the tinternet!!Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

I kinda feel the same - SM sent me a wee something last year and I was unbelieivably touched - so thoughtful but simple as well.
Book postage if you insist.Otherwise don't worry. just promise me you wont post the MIL - this is the frozen north and many folk feel exiled here - but I dont deserve her either.
I think of you lot as my everyday chums being able to talk to chums- life up here otherwise is a bit - um - empty of chums really.
Choccy trays for ice cubes was probably a blue peter thing - in the days you know
Um
Before the internet malarkayif you cost the trays with or without chocolate - I am absolutely SURE the chocolate trays are much more cost effective per unit. think of it as saving the material from landfill and recycling something you already have that you'd have to buy otherwise.
They might not last as long as they are a bit flimsy but if careful they last a while - but they will be so much more funand I hear that chocolate is something OH's have to purchase - say once a month or so (weekly?) after they have been provided with gorgeous babies

So operation Puree is cheaper than jars is well under way!!
Currently in my freezer is choc trays full of cauliflower, broccoli, pear and some more carrot (No furry friends unlike in your freezer Fay!!:rotfl:)
Feeling very motherly and one step nearer to being Mrs Weasley, I think pureeing is the sort of thing she would do to!!
Been thinking already about Christmas  as again want to do it as cheaply as possible as I will still only be working part time and will still be debt busting. Am thinking of dusting off the little sewing machine and making some pretty bags for life type things as little gifts? Figuring if I start now theres a slim chance they may be ready by Christmas!! :rotfl:Also means I can keep an eye out for pretty remnants of material.
One way to save on Christmas is the fact that OH and his Sister have decided to go their seperate ways and not see each other anymore. I have to say I am not sorry, I am not materialistic at all but she hasnt sent Pip a card let alone a present since he was born not even for his naming. I am not saying she should have bought him a ferrari but she could have spent a fiver on a little toy or pack of babygrows couldnt she?
MIL used the usual "after all Ive done for you" guilt trip on OH and at the moment it is left in his hands to decide what to do about the situation. I know you only get one mother and all but she is dreadful and I would go so far as to say she has mentally abused OH. I told OH the decision must be his and I wll support him whatever he decides but I do not want her to have Pip on her own ever.
Anyway another looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg post!
I am off now to write the Thank yous for Pips Naming Ceremony presents, going to put some pics of people with him on the day in with them.
Probably will pop on later TTFN x x x xDebt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T
