Naughty Pips mum, bad Pips mum!!:o
I just joined tesco DVD rental. I got the 1000 clubcard points which will be lovely but instead of the cheapy £4 per month 1 I did the £13 1 so OH can rent XBox games too. I suppopse it will ultimately be a saving as he wont need to buy games now. I am staggered how much is on there! Loads of TV shows and even baby DVDs for Pip to enjoy, much mucho impressed!
I just heard something very surprising about work. I am currently a Level 2 whos role is training. My friend and kind of boss just told me they have advertised 6 Level 6 positions on training. Apparently I do EVERYTHING on the job spec already but I would probably have to be full time. As much as I would actually hate to be full time again I dont see that I could turn down that Kind of pay increase could you? Obviously I havent applied or had an interview or got the job yet but you all know by now how my mind goes off on one!!:rotfl::rotfl:
So my question to you ladies and occasional gent (Hampster where are you again?)
Should I even consider giving up Pip time to earn more money enabling me to pay off debts quickly to make for a better future for him? OR does he benefit more from me physically being with him now?Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Only you can make that call Pipsmum. Its a toughy. Good luck with it though.0

Its a hard one, but I know u have been doing extra hours, how many hrs is the difference between what u do now and the full time position or is it in terms of actual days? xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Just a quick thought - would they consider job share? Alot of companies do not want hassle of part time workers but happily accept job share.0

I'd weigh up pip time now (quality pip time) with the quality time you can give him later
As they grow - they need more you - can you do the other post for a bit until he's at school or preschool when you'd be in a better financial position?
If you can I'd seriously think about it..........................
As my two have grown up I've found that contary to advice they need you more when they are bigger, at school and need more alot of nuturing
If you think you can do the job standing on your head, less erratic hours and stuff - I'd go for f/t (just me though............if you want a blether about it can always PM/email/etc me - my iphone as you know is very sick!) but if you need an ear................or two x

with the pay increase, would it mean you could then move into the area you want for pips school???
I agree with fay..........how would you do childcare? I have asked to go full time in the hope of paying off my debts quicker giving me the chance to cut down my hours later if needed.

Thanks for all the advice, you are all lovely and make me think things through differently:A
Kidcat not sure about jobshare, worth asking.:)
The plot thickens anyway. It is an 18 month project role, based at another site, It involves driving around the country and delivering training. Im not sure of the salary yet but its got to be over £25K my friend is emailing over the full job spec later so will keep you posted. Its quite nice that its only 18 months because thats a nice time scale for me too. I could clear the debts and save for a nice house deposit and Pip would still only be 2 and a half so still little. Mum would still be my childcare some of it but i think she woould stop work and look after him Full Time if I could match what she currently gets at the bakery where she works Part Time.
After the 18 months I would hopefully then be in a position to tell them to !!!!!! off anyway and leave!!:D As you all know the main reason I have to work is the debt repayments.
Fay - I think you are probably right that they need you more when they are bigger, emotionally if nothing else!:p
Mum2one - The difference is an extra 17 hours or 2.5 days:(
Rags - Yes if we cleared all our debts then we would be able to look to live in the catchment area of the nicer schools for Pip.:T
Right off for a cuppa,:coffee:

Well the job sounds quite good - only you can really know best - do the + - thing and see how you get on and be honest with how you feel not just about how great the dosh etc would be (which I know you will)
Great that you've got Pip with your Mum - that is such a lovely bond - think about how much he naps, eats etc - and how much time you actually spend with him at home/at work.
In the short term - it might be just the leg up you need if you find you can think of it like that.
This is slightly different but I did similar thinking to you - so its kinda relevant.........
When I decided to do my MSc - meant for ONE year an early commute (up and out at 6.30) and not home til 7pm - tough for me - and different for the kids, I've only ever before that worked p/t and around thier school hours - To deal with the MSc we broke it up into chunks - planned holidays etc around it and it just worked great.
DD went after school to a pals and DS went to a club - they both enjoyed it being different and we all knew it wasn't permanent and although Pip won't know what you're doing it for - the long term gain was important for us - as was knowing it as a 'short-term change'
We've also managed this 'in town' move the same way (we moved into town for the first time ever 2 years ago in July we are bumpkins at heart) - its paid alot of debt off - having the house in town so we could have lodgers, its meant we can now sustain ourselves out in stickland from the summer as most of the debts have gone and I can use the money now for petrol etc. We've made the most of it as well cos we've known its not been a permanent thing and its been something in the short term that will bring a long term gainwill shut up now
I think basically what I'm saying if you think you can do it, and the short term change is managable - with a big long term gain - then if it were me I'd really go for it (IMHO)
PS I'm working f/t til Dec and then after that I don't honestly think I'll consider full time work again with my two - the school work, the emotional stuff, the extras etc - I don't midn being almost f/t and doing extra bits of work to supplement things but even at this age they really do need their mummy.
