Ok, I have bought and misplaced and re-bought bero books over the years, and my newer one has the recipe as shown on the website, but as it happens, I was browsing through my old one last night and it does have a slightly different recipe.... not sure if its the one you're after because this book is from the 80's, but here goes anyway:
Hazelnut and banana bread
200g SR Flour
125g demerara sugar
1/2 tspn salt
75g margarine or butter
2 eggs
1 tblspn golden syrup
100g hazelnuts chopped
450g banana
1tblspn milk
Method:
1. Mix together flour, sugar and salt. Rub in butter.
2. Mix in eggs and syrup. Stir in nuts.
3. Mash banana's with milk. Add to mixture and stir thoroughly.
4. Place mixture in well greased and base lined 2lb loaf tin.
5. Bake for 75 mins at 180 c, 350 f, gas mark 4.
6. Cool on wire rack. Wrap and keep 24 hours before slicing.
Fingers crossed its the one you remember, if not good luck on your hunt and I will trawl my other cake books to see if there are any more.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

Thanks for this ,I have used different banana cake recipes and this one is really tasty!! My dh loves sultanas so I mixed double the amount and added sultanas to his half instead of hazelnuts...turned out good..well he has eaten most of it
