  • Gads. Some DWP employees are total munters.

If your benefit is due they MUST pay it to you immediately. No point posting a giro or sending your dosh to the bank now cos it'll be late ... but the staff member could have advised you to call into your local jobcentre & collect a giro instead.

If benefit is due you won't get a Crisis Loan.

Get on the phone to them on Monday & request a counter payment.
  • thanks everyone so much for your kind words and support i just phoned a friend of mine who has invited me to his for xmas (not seen him in nearly 3 years) Have printed out the crisis loan and going to take it down there first thing monday morning (am away atm till sunday).

Thanks alot again and hope you all have a great xmas xxx

You won't get a Crisis Loan if your benefit is due.

If you'd been given the option to collect a counter payment there wouldn't be a crisis at all.

if you go to your job centre on monday could the incapacity benefit people not talk to the jobcentre while you are there and then your jobcentre issue a giro ??
  • They should be able to issue a counter payment.

I'd keep ringing them until they give in.

I agree that you should get a counter payment. One week my husband's incapacity benefit didn't go into our bank, he rang up and there had been some sort of problem. We just had to go to the local jobcentre that morning and they gave us a giro to cash at the Post Office.

Give them a ring first thing in the morning, tell them you have no money and ask if you can get a giro over the counter at the jobcentre.

  • hi sorry for a later response but no didnt get it sorted: was feed some crap from the person over the phone about how my payment was already 'on its way' so if they paid me it with giro that would mean i would be getting it twice. I think it was aload of crap but a m8 invited me round for xmas so turned out pretty good :D thats for all your help and hope you all had a great xmas!!
