Does anyone have to hand what their predictions were for this year?
Would make amusing reading!

2008 PREDICTIONS
CML +1%
Halifax 0%
Nationwide 0%
Rics 0%
John Charcol -2%
Capital Economics -5%
Nul points.0 -
Capital Economics came closest - no surprise there - but were too scared to go public with their deepest 'bear' feelings.
Of course, it means they've been the only lot left without egg on their faces this year.0 -
The Nationwide forecasts that annual house price inflation will have dwindled to nil by the end of 2008, describing this as a "significant slowdown".
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
What happens to the spread-bets which were based on the Halifax prices?
NB Does anyone see Mandy having a hand in this. "The sheeple will panic, best not tell them the truth. The BBC will continue to proclaim Mr Gordon is a financial titan."0 -
2009 is going to be rubbish without the monthly Nationwide and Halifax reports being posted on here.
I suppose we could make up our own figures if nothing is officially reported, works well for government.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
The monthly figures will still be posted, along with the "comparing to olden times" mention, won't they?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I don't see why they would stop the monthly figures. Tho they will probably be saying that house prices are still 50% more expensive than the caves used by homo erectus during the last iceage0 -
just shows you they release the forecast mainly for promotional purposes. they want people to buy a house so they say "we expect houses to go up by 10% next year".
like steadysaver said, whats difficult to predict about falling house prices?0 -
