How about tarting up a shepherds/cottage pie using garam masala in it? I tend to use that and add a good glug of chilli sauce in it.
At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)

Get some 'Enc0na' hot pepper sauce from the supermarket - it is really hot, but has a wonderful flavour - I use it to spice up my chilli con carne (instead of chilli's or chilli powder) and its fab. He can also use it as a table sauce so I can imagine it would be good with sausages.

Or you could make a hot sausage pot - basically the same as chilli, but with cooked whole sausages instead of beef ;)
  • Hello all,

I like to make my own ready meals in aluminium foil containers, but I've read that you shouldn't freeze tomato based dishes in foil as the acid can react with the metal - how do you freeze yours? :)

We freeze all ours in washable plastic trays. They are silimar in size to the take away trays, but they are plastic so you can re-use etc.

We get ours from Tesco/Wilkinsons/£1 shop, you get more for your money from the £1 shop.

freezer containers should help you see what others do -ill merge this later

I use a freezer bag lining shaped tupperware that all fit in my freezer like little bricks all labelled. I remove the tub once its frozen.

i have a pic somewhere but cant find it!

I reuse the plastic takeaway trays until they fall to bits but I never microwave food in plastic trays. It's as quick to put the brick of frozen food into a pan and heat it on a stove if I haven't remembered to take tea out of the freezer in time:D

not that that happens often in our house, you understand:rotfl:

  • Do you reheat whilst still in the plastic trays? Wanting to send DH to work with a homemade hot dinner, and we both enjoy tomato based dishes but worried about poisoning him, haha
  • Pink Winged, how do you wrap your dishes to prevent freezer burn? No matter what I do, I always end up throwing stuff away because of this :(
