I use Pyrex containers so they can go in the oven and won't stain or pick up smells.0

or for sauces, soups & things pop them in a plastic freezer bag and let them freeze inside the box - then when its frozen remove the box if you see what I mean so its frozen 'in shape' & is easier to store.0

I use old plastic ice cream containers. Once washed they are fine.
I also use plastic bags for small amounts of food. Let the food cool down first then put in the bags, tie and freeze.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
Alternatively, line your containers with plastic food bags. Pour the food into the bag and freeze. When it's solid, remove bag from container. You can then stack the food blocks in the freezer without needing thousands of containers.0

We use butter tubs (the largish butter me up / butterlicious / can't believe its not butter etc type). They stack well, microwave, and fit two greedy peoples portions of most things (ie stews) fairly easily. I also use them for lasagne, by putting a slice in the bottom, then a plastic bag to seperate, followed by the second slice.

Instore, Wilkinsons, £1 shops etc all good places for freezer containers.
Definately agree with freeze in the container then pop into a bag or line with a bag then remove the container, saves needed a bizillion containers which take up lots of space when not being used. One day I might be more organised...........

If this works for you - whenever I freeze things in tubs they seem to be glued to the tub and you have to virtually defrost them to free them
Will try the other tip of bag inside the tub thoughworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I use the plastic "take-away" style ones. They seem to be resistant to the turmeric in curries, last a reasonable amount of time (if you don't drop one on another and break the lid) and are well within MSE limits to replace (£1 for 6 in Wilkinsons and Matalan, IIRC).
PS. Being a sad, anally-retentive geeky control freak, I even have an Excel file to keep track of how many tubs of what I have in there! :sad:The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Another thread on it, this one will probably get added to there.
The Instore ones forgot to mention they now do several sizes which can be handy for various amounts (eg a seperate curry and rice will need different space to a stew with everything in)
newlywed, dunk them in hot water for a few seconds, usually frees it up enough to get it out.
Oh and if you freeze it in what you want to reheat it in (casserole dish, pyrex, pan etc) then turn it out into a bag, makes things easier to just tip back in and defrost inside it when you want to use it.One day I might be more organised...........
