Queenie I do the same, freezer bag in a tub, then popped out and put back in in just the bag, takes up so much space, aswell as the money on all the tubs/containers I would have used.
I only have a small freezer now, underbench one, 2 adults 2 kids and it does us, I would like a bigger one but would probably buy way too much if I did. Smaller freezer helps me with meal planning etc, I know what is in it, unlike the huge chest freezer I had in the last house (nowhere to put one in this house) things used to go in and get lost! ( Including me as I fell in it several times trying to grab the lost items from the bottom)
One day I might be more organised...........

Quick tip which some of you may already be doing allready. When freezing fruit - place on a baking tray and freeze on the tray. Bag them up and you have a bag of "marbles" to take out when you want with no waste.0

I do the same as queenie. Re: drying the bags out you could use a wire coat hanger a la TWG Bend it in half and you have a two legged baggie support.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I read somewhere that food shouldn't be in contact with plastic, something about nasties transferring onto the food.
I have just been grating loads of cheese and froze it in bags. I also heard cling film is to be avoided and stick to foil or greaseproof.
Has anyone else heard of this? am I safe with my cheapie freezer bags?A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -
As already mentioned the pyrex dishes with plastic lids. I saw them greatly reduced at Morrisons (pontefract). I don't have these myself yet but they are going to be my next purchase. I really bought them when i saw them but i had already put loads of reduced xmas prezzies in my trolley.

Freezer bags are made with the right stuff so it doesn't react, the usual sandwich bags aren't usually safe for freezer use if they don't say they are (and will usually split anyway if used in freezer) some modern cling film can be used in the freezer, some can't, always check the labels. Clingfilm isn't good on highfat products. Same goes for storage, some food also reacts to specific types of storage but it will usually tell you this on the packing of the storage product. One of mine stated not to be used with products with a high sugar content.
