    Hi Neil

Just wondered if we'd had a response from PATAS?

    Thanks

LOL. I'm only gonna be telling him his hearing date! it's his info so I can't speak for him on forum.

It's not too far off compared to other dates I've seen. One of the PPP 'eagles' has one in ahead of us and I'm hoping that hearing is first - i'll have to check.

Just to add WST. Those parked cars appear to be an obstruction as well? It looks like there are actually bays marked there? The whole set up appears ridiculous.
I wonder how many of these Islington are using to rake it in? Thomas was 'Engelfield rd' I think. the other case was 'Fairbridge' so three at least.

Hi I also received a PCN in the same place as WST in early February. Is the purpose of this sign to stop larger vehicles going down the road in one direction only? Presumably cars of larger size can come the other way. It's a relatively quiet street. There was a car blocking the narrowed section on this quiet Sunday I came by- hardly moving at all as you can (hopefully) see in pictures, I checked that the road ahead was clear and went through the larger gap to pass round the virtually stationery car, as I might have done further down the round if I had met it later on. I wasn't being willfull or driving dangerously, but thought I had made a reasonable decision, didn't know that it was against the law to pass other vehicles that were obstructing the road in a quiet London street. Makes me wonder if the other car was a plant - it must certainly cost a lot to maintain this camera in this street.

that needs to be bigger if you can please scrub all personal details off . I am horrified at this money making scam. Someone has created a cash cow here a absolute disgrace and danger to everyday road users

  • Some good news from me, Islington agreed that the delivery vehicle was blocking the width restriction and obscuring the signs.

    Our PCN has been cancelled.

Why they couldn't do that in the first place, instead of issuing a PCN, I'll never know.

  • What a rare thing, I never thought the two things went together, bureaucrats and commonsense. Well Done.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Highway Code Rules Having been reading this thread it’s interesting to note that I found this via google.co.uk with keyword “32JP”. This site was the 4th link down but however the most relevant. So you can imagine my amazement when I find that the first reference to the offence I find is “Thomask” in Englefield Road N1.

I currently have on my desk a PCN for Englefield Road and looking at Thomask’s photographic evidence I made the same mistake in exactly the same location going the exact same way (only difference being that I am resident of the UK and was driving a standard sized saloon car, which would easily fit through the gap).

I have paid the fine immediately (£60) however I begrudge giving them the money and here is why.

I have no excuse I simply could not be arsed to drive through a narrower gap when the larger gap was easier and more straightforward to negotiate through given the conditions of the road. There was nothing behind me and nothing in front of me, so under no circumstances was I likely to hit crash or injure any living thing on that stretch of road (which is already calmed by the 10 or so speed humps). I was not speeding nor driving recklessly, nor was I driving into oncoming traffic (there was no traffic at this time). I just took the easier route.

However I have been driving 10 years I do not recall anywhere in the highway code where I would be liable to a fine for ignoring a blue arrow sign in a circle; in fact the highway code merely states “Signs with blue circles but no red border mostly give positive instruction.” Furthermore there is no warning on this road that you will be fined.

This is just another unreasonable way of local authorities making money out of the driver and should be stamped out. It’s too easy for councils to modify a stretch of road to their liking and then fine people accordingly. This type of calming needs signs explaining to drivers that they can be fined for disobeying, just like they have in the bus lane. As it stands Englefield Road N1 only advertises that it has width restriction and a camera.
