For those interested who've been following this thread, and those with similar fines, I have good news!

3 of the 3 fines have been cancelled!

The first 2 were cancelled by the council and the third reached the adjudication stage however the council pulled out of the hearing days before we were due to go live.

I'd like to express my sincere thanks to Neil for all his help. He was a wealth of knowledge and assisted greatly in helping me deal with the council and it's procedures.

just out of interest. A few people popped up in this thread apart from the OP. I know one paid (PM).

Have any of those or any others appealed on the basis of the info I gave, been declined and subsequently paid???

    i have info for you.

    Hi there all,

My dad received this penalty notice. Looks like Islington are really taking the biscuit. What the hell was going on in that road? It looks like a one way. For some daft reason there's a central section and the driver is expected to veer off to the left and then cut back in to join the road.

    Why?

Obviously a money making scheme for the Council, but what the hell are councillors and the MP doing about it?

What can the grounds of appeal be?

    Nonsensical and confusing roads signs?

There are several signs up including signs on the floor, and two or three sets of signs on the poles, I have highlighted on the second image.

I guess I need an image from the other side to really know what it all means.

    Any ideas?

Tried adding an image but could not as I am a new user!!!

I think it takes ten posts or something before you can post images. Quite obstructive to getting cases moving. othe sites don't have that.

what date of contravention and date of PCN?
  • CANT BELIEVE I COUND THIS PAGE! EVERYONES COMMENTS HAVE BEEN SO HELPFUL ESPECIALLY "NEIL B". IN RELATION TO THE MARLBOROUGH RD PCN I HAVE THE SAME ONE... I JUST CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE EMPLOYED TO SIT THERE ALL DAY AND CATCH OUT PEOPLE TRYING TO LIVE AN HONEST LIFE.

not living in london like many others i wasnt familiar with the roads and came to one of these "obstacles"... i saw the narrow section and thought logicallly im in a long wheel base van, ill barely fit through the width restriction but even if i do ill have to manouver round the skip thats been plonked infront of the narrow section to thought why not go through the middle section save causing damage to one- my van and 2 the posts and skip etc... i checked for any no entry signs for the wider section and the was none so i tought it wold be OK considering there was no approaching traffic and i wasnt speeding.

plus thse restrictions are notmally for vehicles over 3.5TONS which my van is much less...

i think i came up to it then reversed a few feet before taking the wider section. this i would of thought shows how confusing it was and that i did think about what i was doing before making a careless decision.

IM NOT VERY GOOD AT ALL AT WORDING STUFF LIKE THIS OR HOW TO GO ABOUT IT  SO IS THERE ANYONE WHO COULD HELP ME!!!?? ????-NEIL B-??? AKA THE MAN WITH A PLAN.

ahh as i am a new member i cannot upload the scan of the letter... please contact me at joedude44@hotmail.com for the scan

thankyou people, though i have 3 days to respond before it goes up to the higher rate.
