They're kind of ironic now, but for the people who were attracted by these "get rich" schemes, they just "rub it in". I have noticed the same repeated shows are on TV but with a subtitles at the end of the valuation advising "spring 2007"

I suppose all they do is earn money by proving greedy people with what they want to hear. If people like phil spencer, kirsty and sarah beeny were such good developers then why tell the whole country how to do this? The answer is because they love making money from being on TV. I bet you next year the same people will be on TV telling FTB's buyers to zap up all the repossessions or how to get a house cheaper. They will still be famous but targeting a different market.

Why do you make it sound as though it's somehow a bad thing to enjoy earning a living as a TV presenter? Or as though it's a bad thing to respond to changes in the industry in which you work by shifting slightly sideways and doing something that's a bit of a variant on what you did before.

Krusty and Phil etc may have been part of the HPI mania that got this country's housing market into the mess that it's in, but they're not entirely to blame for the whole thing, and whatever may have been unethical about their behaviour, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with earning a living making TV programmes (about property or anything else).
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

  • The one I enjoy is Homes Under the Hammer. It is great to see some slum brought back into use. I only wish I had the skills to transform from before to after.

Is it about demolition of [STRIKE]luxury apartments [/STRIKE]er. flats? Sounds like fun. But they should preserve maybe one in each town as a monument to stupidity and greed.

Your sensible, balanced and commen sense views have no place here. Go away, get a bit more cynical and work up some misplaced hatred then try again.

I quite enjoyed the Location, Location, Location programmes. It was people mainly looking for a home as far as I could tell, with two people helping them out. Not quite sure if I missed something, but I don't really put it on a par with Hitler on the evil scale.

I didn't find the Relocation, Relocation one 'evil' either, although it was highly irritating watching very rich people buy a very big house then another very big house. Just for f*cking about in at the weekend.

No. Homes Under The Hammer is a programme on BBC1 where fallen 80's rapper MC Hammer casts his view on the decor, layout and soft furnishings of Britain's homes.

He's leaving at the end of this series though and is due to be replaced by Jan Hammer (of Miami Vice and Crockett's Theme fame).

'Buy it Sell it Bank it' is good fun at the moment. It started filming in Spring this year, just before the HPC had reached the mainstream consciousness, so you get lots of 'proberdee investors' paying over the odds at auction, 'renovating' the place with laminate flooring and magnolia paint, and then getting pwned when the valuation comes in 6 months later at less than what they paid for it.

    Great fun :)
