What you have to remember is even though they say unmetered usage per month, is it?

Read the AUP in the T&C's but, this generally doesn't give an answer and is a grey area

Most will give 1GB+ per day but, in general the less you pay the chances will be less that they'll actually allow unmetered usage and will either throttle your connection down and or boot you from the services ...etc.

To be safe, is to use an adsl provider that can afford to maintain unmetered usage and this means paying a good price otherwise you're going to end up very soon looking for another adsl provider.

Hope this helps and something to be aware of :)

  • Looking at Tesco further it seems you can get 1mg unlimited broadband for £17.99

Customer support is on an 0845 local rate number 7 days a wekk 0800 - midnight but techie support is on an 09 number (which i can't dial from my phone due to having it barred following the dialler scams) techie support is 50p per min.

Unless I've missed it - I cannot see if it is monthly or annual contract.

I have used Tesco bb since it began and have had no problems to speak of.

As I understand it the 512 unlimited is £17.99 but the the 1mg is limited at the £17.99 charge, I think it is unlimited at £19.99?

It is a 12 month initial contract and if you change your contract ie I could change now to 1mg the 12 contract would start again. I haven't bothered though as I am happy with 512.

I pay via my Tesco cc and so get the points on thats as well as the points as my clubcard is registered.

i am with tesco 512kpbs since it was started and now quite tempted with the geointerent offer. But i can't find a number to contact them. Should they be best avoided?
  • AVI > I've been thinking about migrating to them away from e7 ......... i think why not ....... payment is monthly so if they bust who cares just move?

The current thinking is that those prices wont last for long or the company wont.

    Have a look at force9.
I think they are all uncapped and 2MB min.
They control usage by reducing the dowload speed at peak times when you go over threshholds for the month.

Lowest price is £14.99 - I think it gives 10G before it starts to slow down.
    The decent one is £21.99.

They do a monthly contract with no tie in. I've cancelled and restarted and transferred address with no problem (apart from with bt of course)
  • There is a big difference between yearly and monthly :)

I would use NTL. People talk them down but I have been with them for years and at the moment they are offering 12 mnths at 9.99/month i think on 1MB
  • Hi

From my experience of ISP's, bear in mind the following

If you take a 12 month contract and the ISP changes ownership or becomes unreliable then you have to pay up what's left of you contract (Plusnet, Pipex,F2S, Metronet etc), try to stick to 1 months contract.

    Capped or uncapped?

1 Divx film is about 700/800Mb so 3 films in a month and you are over your 2Gb limit.
Unlimited downloads will me more expensive and if you continually download to supply the local boot-sales then the ISP will ask you to leave under its Acceptable Use Policy.

If you only surf occasionally and download mail then just look for the cheapest 1 month contract.

    Always check

There is a wealth of info here but some people here take the internet too seriously!!

    Good Luck
