Thats it I have had enough of ebay

I have been having no end of problems over the past two months on ebay, that I am seriously considering giving it up - is it really worth it? I am a buyer and seller. When I buy, they seem to take forever to turn up, 3 items this month have only been posted after I have had to chase it up. When they do turn up they are fit for the bin. I have received fake items (ebay not interested), my emails are ignored by sellers.
As a seller,I consider myself to have really high standards (i am fussy about what i even send to the charity shop). I have 700+ positives, as i check everything very carfully and post same or next working day and commnicate the best I can. So when I had a neg saying an item of clothing was in bad condition and stained, I was mortified. There are no emails about this. I have contacted her, apologising profusely and offering full refund. Still no communication. I am not saying that she is lying, I could have missed something, but I would like to try and put things right. I am thinking of just refunding her the full amount anyway, then close my account. What do you think?
The straw that broke the camals back I suppose.

Regarding selling: Look at your bottom line that should be the determining factor. One negative !!!!!! happens......0

Thanks yes you are right of course. I just wonder whether its worth it, very frustrating when I try and do the right thing, whilst other people give a really bad service. Needed to have a rant!0

To be honest I wouldn't refund her if she makes no contact. She has not bothered to get in touch to give you any chance to resolve the issue. I would also reply to the negative with something like 'buyer made no contact to alert me of any problem. Would have offered refund'. This will at least alert any future bidders that the problem may be the buyer and not with your items.0

Thanks bluebell. Was wondering if I gave her a full refund, she might be able to withdraw comment? I hate the thought of sending something that is not clean, its really humiliating and certainly not something I would do intentionally.0

I find it depends on the selling categories a lot.
Ive had my fingers burnt in the clothes and collectables categories a few times in the past, simply because the buyers have much more subjective opinions.
My idea of an Orange T-shirt, may be class as Ochre by somebody else, and light red by another, or dark yellow by someone else. I also found that people want to pay pennies, but expect the earth and then some.
More hassle than it was worth in those two sectors - and DVD's were becoming the same. I now stick to commoditised everyday products - buy cheap, sell high, deliver promptly at a fair price, be polite to my customers, and so far I've had very very few problems - 1 neutral in the last 12 months, star ratings of 4.85+ on all 4 measures.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Yes, it is very subjective. Its not just the neg thats annoyed me, its all the little things that seem to have got worse over the last few months. I have 2 npbidders at the moment and I just can't be bothered to chase it up anymore, I think my ebay days have come to an end. I used to really enjoy it, but now I spend too much time getting stressed over little things, and peoples rudeness.0

Maybe the negative's a good thing and will stop you getting stressed over little things in the future and trying to keep a 100% feedback.
Just put things into perspective you've over 700 positives so 1 neg isn't going to put people off. Just play the game and respond to the feedback saying "goods were perfectly fine when sent" "would have offered refund if seller contacted before feedback" or whatever. There are plenty of jerks out there she probably negged just cos she'd seen it cheaper on another auction.
It'll soon disappear from the screen and not many buyers expect a full 100% on 700+ items and rarely go to the hassle of searching through all neg feedbackWins: pink kids laptop0 -
I think you're very generous to offer a refund after they have not bothered to contact you at all. If ebay aren't interested, then maybe you shouldn't be so bothered about 1 person. 700+ positives are what I would look at in a seller. x0
