Many years ago we went to Coventry in the evening to see a movie. We lived in Leicester at the time and Leicester City Council didn't charge after 6pm.

On arriving back to the car we saw that a ticket had been issued.

I contacted the council and explained that we did look for a meter and sign that outlined the charges but couldn't see one. We did actually see it on he way out after I got the ticket. We had therefore assumed that Coventry City Council had adopted the same stance as Leicester City Council.

I also explained that I was not in the business of tryiing to evade the 30p parking fee as we had spent about £30 between us that evening, and I would behappy to send it to them in the post.

I was asked to wite in, which I did. I heard nothing more.
