traffic warden from heaven!

Options
yep they do exist.

where mr mob works there are controlled parking zones where they can only park for 2 hours.

the local traffic warden knows his car and where he works and was out yesterday issuing tickets. mr mob returned to the car after work to find a pixed penalty notice envelope stuck to the windscreen, upon opening it was a note from the traffic warden stating that the car reg has been noticed and this time he'll let him off but next time he wont be so lucky and will get a ticket".

what a very nice man!

The actual role of the traffic warden used to be keeping the roads clear. If you parked and a warden saw you, he should tell you not to park there and move the vehicle. Nowdays, they hide and pounce on you. Parking enforcment is big business. Its no longer a case of keeping the streets clear, its targets of how many tickets they can issue. Until this changes, parking attendands will be treated badly.

i got a ticket through the post once.

i got away with it as i photocopied pages of the highway code about how you can load and unload on a single yellow and pointed out that had the warden approached me and asked me to move i would have and didnt appreciate them hiding behind bushes.

another i got away with as i had broken down (i hadnt) they couldnt prove that i hadnt put a note on the windscreen saying "broken-down. gone for help" and i couldnt prove having repairs done as my "boyfriend was a mechanic and done it for free"

mr mob went to appeals with them and won as the warden said he was parked outside number 11. outside number 11 was a yellow line and mr mob had actually parked in a bay without paying outside number 17.

and the last ticket he got he didnt bother with as the wrote the wrong reg on it.

Hope his boss doesnt find out, he will probably sack him for misuse of a ticket envelope!

At least there are some decent traffic wardens about, shame they cant all be like that!

We once parked in a multi-story car park and forgot to buy a ticket. We reallised 5 minutes later and ran back to find a traffic warden ready to pounce. We explained what we had done and he understood and said that as he hadn't filled out his paperwork yet he'd let us of this time. We couldn't believe our luck, that we had found the first decent traffic warden in town, so thanked him and bought a pay and display ticket.

Anyway a few weeks later we received a letter in the post telling us that we had in fact got a fine and as it had not been paid within 14 days it was to be increased. As you can imagine we were not overly impressed and have kept an eye out for that traffic warden ever since.

That scam was shown in one of those undercover documentaries, where they don't wait the 5/10 mins that they have to and they just issue a ticket.

As far as I understood it, until they stick the bit of paper to your windscreen, you can drive off without getting the fine.... There's a great website with suggestions on how to appeal against fines and waht your rights are - will go have a search around and try and find it!

  • If there are good wardens around i certainly havent met one. My mission in life is never to get another ticket again. Where I live I need a permit to park, and I would always take my permit out of the windscreen when I leave home so that I can commute in my car with the comfort that anonymity brings. Unluckily for me "anonymity" cost me £200 as I forgot to place the permit back in the windscreen. Admittedly my fault, but when I went to collect my car I showed the leeches that my permit was in fact in the glove compartment of my vehicle, and wrote to appeal against the ticket and subsequent fees to no avail. Funny how your brakes never fail when you really want them to!
 Its better to be mad than to be a mute. Everyone hears the grievance of a madman - whether they acknowledge you or not. The mute is as good as dead... :D

  • How about this for a wonderful policeman?

He actually knocked on our door and asked for my husband (by name!!! ), and pointed out to him that his car (parked in 'his' disabled space outside) was not showing the disabled card. He said it would be a shame if the traffic warden gave him a ticket. Hubby rushed outside to get the card out of the side pocket and back on to the dashboard. :D

PS Guess who had forgotten to replace the card after using the car :o
