I would not of paid it.
    You didn't...

The problem with Dell's (much as I like the Q6600 Inspiron 530 I'm using at the mo) is that the manuals are all installed on the PC only. They're ok if you can fault-find yourself but sadly they do rip people off at every opportunity.

£57 was expensive for 5 minutes, but at least for that price you got exactly the advice you needed, and efficiently.
Other companies (or other technical support guys) might have taken 2 hours to fix your problem, make you lose personal data, etc

Yes, they certainly fixed his problem. Now when his 6 week-old computer breaks every few days, he'll know exactly how to fix it.

    Hurrah for Dell.

Spot on.....every time I start the computer I get the Boot Error screen and have to reload the installation disc and go to repair and restart to get it working, Dell didnt ring as promised.

I have saved a fortune with all the £57's I have saved, wow I am so lucky and so very grateful for the advice  wonder how much it will cost to actually fix it.

Why dont you look on www.saynoto0870.com and get other dell numbers that are not premium rated and write them down so you have them at hand next time and the time after etc you have to ring dell.. we did this after we got a bill for nearly £12 ringing dell.. with the same problem you lot are getting
