Sophiesmum, is there any chance you'd let me know your recipe for pizza bases? I know it's basic but I don't have any idea of quantities, so I end up using packet mix which is cheaper than ready made bases and nicer, but I think making it out of my store cupboard would be cheaper.Wendy x0

I have some packet mixes as a standby but usually make a batch of pizza dough in breadmaker.
The breadmaker ingredients are;
1/2 tsp yeast
11oz strong white bread flour
1tbsp olive oil
1tsp salt
170mls water
We like thin crispy bases and the above will make two 10" or three 8" bases.Following same recipe just do by hand.
Basically mix all together, knead, split into smaller balls, and roll or press out to size, leave to prove for 20 minutes or so when they will double in size.
If you want to freeze bases cook without toppings for 5 minutes, then cool and freeze.0 -
Im hoping growing stuff is going to be easyish...
I got sent a £5 off and order voucher (but you have to pay P+P) from Th0mson &M0rgan so I ordered some basil, salad leaves (2 mixed sorts), carrots, mini peppers and parsley seeds for the total of £3.04 (after discount) a couple of days ago... I'll be growing it (hopefully they will survive
) in my kitchen / windowsills and possibly in a big pot or 2 in the shared back garden. I have some slightly elderly chive seeds I will try too. The carrots looked so cute I had to get them... They are Parmex ones - they're roundish! :rotfl:
I need to look out what pots etc I have and I can "liberate" from my parents shed (with permission). Oh and I mustn't plant too much in 1 go like I did with basil a few years ago... I wound up with seed trays full of the stuff on every windowsill in my flat and 2 small desks full of it in the livingroom!:rotfl: I was so sick of it... I kept giving everyone basil plants but it didn't really seem to make a difference... :rotfl:

If anyone can point me in the direction of some cheap raspeberry canes or rhubarb crowns etc, I'd really appreciate it.
I bought a raspberry cane for £2.99 a couple of years back from Wilkinsons...I think they still do them. It was only one admittedly, but I split them last year and I now have 18Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz
Alexander William born 30th December 2012 - 10lb 2oz
GC June 2014 £79.04/£1500 -
Tonight i have planted some chives and mustard and cress in kitchen, figured it would be an extra bit of greenery to chuck in food for time being until the garden gets going again. My new food processor has a mini mill on it that will be great for chopping herbs so I can dry/freeze/cook with them.
Taka - growing stuff really isn't hard, the seeds do most of the work for youas long as you keep them well watered most things thrive with basic attention.

The 'free cinema thread' in the freebies board on this forum is a great place to look for codes. Managed to bag myself the above film, Australia and Bride Wars over the next week. I would be seeing all those films anyway so money saved.0
