Sophies Mum - That area will look brilliant once you have finished with it!
Well, I have had my haircut and now look ridiculous  Thankfully, Mum paid. I now realise that at £40 a time, my (normal) haircuts are actually very good value because I leave looking good, and continue to look good until the next one! Oh well, will get my hairdresses to sort it out once it has grown a bit. Was going to get Mum to dye it for me, but don't know if I want to do it now I have a carp haircut!
Other than that, went into Wilkos and bought veg seeds - got brocolli, sweetcorn and leeks. Thought that would be quite enough to get me started for now. They had a propagator for £2.79 which I was uhmming and ahhing about, but decided not to bother in the end. Will try and make one instead (help??)We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

Hi all,
Just a quick post, I'm off to bed soon as I am driving to Aberdeen tomorrow. If you lot think that I am way oop north, that is the real north!!!:p
It will take me about 3 hours to drive up there. I got conned into going to KFC today. This is what I bought: 1 fully loaded meal, 2 fillet burgers and 2 medium popcorn. It was £15:eek: . I know that I am going tight because I am horrified. Guess who conned me? Yes, you've got it, the sisters. Sis 1 paid for her own right enough, but the wee one said that she forgot her money.
Do you know, that I didn't enjoy it that much because I thought it was such a waste of cash. I should have just stuck to my tin of corned beef and the bread I brought along with me. Believe me, I will in the future.
This challenge is brilliant as I used to do that sort of thing all the time without thinking about it. I think about it now.:D
I am still annoyed that I have lost my book, but I can start fresh from the 1st April. Maybe in a way it is a good thing as my phone bills will be going down now that DH will be in the UK and I can make some other savings here and there. (and maybe it is a good thing as £15 on KFC would have made a big dent in my budget).:p

"Don't know what they taste like as I don't like marzipan. (Don't know why as I like the ingredients separately!)" - whitewing.
I thought I was the only person who doesn't like marzipan but likes almonds. I was always popular at birthdays because I ate the cake and gave away the marzipan and the icing!" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Hi guys, just another quick visit - weather dictates work hours from here on in, as I'm adamant that frugaldom gardens will be established this year
SF, Kuwait sounds amazing, especially seeing the herd of camels. It;s hard to imagine the place all built up with things like supermarkets as we still tend to think of war-torn areas as depicted by the mass media. Qute a few people I worked with went out to Bazra for the clean-up and regeneration works. Try not to worry too much about weight, think of all the lovely extra exercise you'll get during summer walks with bf.Summer is just around the corner!
Skint Lynne, I used to live about 45 miles north of Aberdeen and loved it up there. My sisters still live up there, too.If it helps, friend says it's sunny just now.
Sophiesmum, that concrete square will look fantastic once you've got it done, you can work wonders with anything! :T Keep us up to date with piccies as it's very frugal to be utilising every available space for healthy, otherwise expensive, food production.
LingoJingo, glad you enjoyed the celebrations and I hope you enjoy the Paris trip.
Been very busy here fitting work around sunshine. I'm getting loads done and we now have 3 hens, a cockeral and the Silkie chick. egg hatching should be due to commence on the 26th and I've decided to section all of the back garden into secure runs for closing everything in safely at night as Mr Weasle is still very active and DS is convinced he saw a Scottish Wild Cat in the driveway a couple of nights ago! There are also countless buzzards and (we are very honoured to have these here, I should add) a pair of hen harriers! All great for wildlife fans but not great for little chickens.
Shaz - Had your potatoes chitted/sprouted before you planted them? It's only my first lot that are beginning to grow and they have been south facing, so getting the best of whatever heat the sun has managed to throw at them.
Everything in the garden is starting to sprout! :j It's all very exciting! even my snowball turnips are through. I'm not going to hurry my square foot garden, I'll be transplanting loads of stuff into it when it comes the time to thin all the seedlings. I also still need to fence it out of reach of live things.
Sun is now beckoning me - who needs foreign holidays for a tan, eh? :rotfl: I can see sheep and cows but, thankfully, no camels! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I went on a work trip to Kingston lacy yesterday, lovely place! My Betsy car started making nasty noises though, I am worried that her engine may be dead... H2B and neighbour are taking a look at her tonight. I'm off to Chichester to stay with a friend tonight, before another work visit to Petworth tomorrow. H2B does have a spare engine in his garage, which should only need about £10 of new gaskets to stop it leaking oil, so worst case I'll be changing engines round at the weekend! Never tried it before, but now seems like a good time to learn!
Luckily I collected my second car last weekend, so I do have a spare. Unfortunately it's got a bit of a sporty engine, and I was hoping to have time to set up the engine properly before I had to do too much driving - and fit some soundproofing! At least with my work expenses it doesn't matter if the car uses some extra petrol on the way...Live on £11k in 20110 -
Lynda, I am seriously impressed with your engine changing / setting up skills :eek:0

Hopefully that will be a nice easy preparation for all the hard work - we're going to start totally rebuilding H2B's car soon! We are very lucky as we have two Morris Minor enthusiast neighbours as well, one of which has already rebuilt his car, so there's plenty of help and advice available just down the roadLive on £11k in 20110
