Cw18-I hadnt been swimming for a year when I went last week and did 20 lengths-today I had aimed for 22.
I take it slowly-Ive never been a quick swimmer and I break it up with swimming on my back the odd length so that I dont tire. I rest after 4 lengths-Im a real plodder. My aim was 40 mins of excercise.
I did also try a sauna and a steam room for a couple of minutes while I stayed in a hotel and didnt have to pay for the "pleasure". There were warnings on the doors that its not advised for people with high blood pressure so that concerned me somewhat as mine is high and im on medication for it(which is why I NEED to lose weight)
It was suggested by doc that I swim with arms only to work upper bodys as Ive got bad knees so I did that as well on both occassions. I do feel better for it though-loosened up and really relaxed.
I must see if there are any "deals" available for me-tho I doubt it-as Im "only" 50.
My dd made me laugh when I got home-she told me not to get skinnier than her! Not a hope-she is a size 10 stretching it-then again-so was I at 23 years of age.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

Good evening frunchkins:D
Just got back from visiting the parents.
I was given a humongous bouquet of flowers earlier by the family of the lady who had the fire last weekend. Must have cost a fortune. Anyway took them round for my mum to enjoy- I love flowers growing outdoors but I really don't like them in the house - most people know this -but my mum still ends up with quite a few bouquets via me from people who don't.
Anyway it's like bogof - I get a buzz that someone has gone to the trouble of buying them for me, then my mum gets the pleasure of having them around -so everyone is happy:D
cw - no worries about gym:D , will let you know how the tortilla press shapes up.
S L - hope you have had a good trip home.0 -

:hello: hello everyone
I haven't posted for a few days due to falling asleep about 9pm on Wednesday, huddled up on the sofa in my blankieand yesterday my laptop/internet explorer weren't playing nicely  , so sorry but I haven't been able to read the posts for these days (yet), but hugs to all who need one.
It's probably just as well I haven't been on to report my spending as yesterday and today my purse has been in good use. Yesterday I spent nearly £8 on party bits for DS1's birthday and a valentines card for DH. Plus £31.82 in Mr S, mostly for cake making, fruit and basics (honest), then today I accidentally bought 2 bottles of wine, wispa (needed desperately) and magazine for DD - first one this year, luckily DS2 didn't want one.
My Dad and S/Mum are down for the weekend and they came round for dinner, so I made (for 7 of us) toad in the hole with basic sausages, which were quite tasty but stuck like glue to my Forge Georman (well that's what DS2 calls it :rotfl: ) and finished it off with apple strudel (given to me by my mum last month) and custard, nom nom nom...and there's a bit left for me for tomorrow :j .Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,279.78 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £180 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £189.89 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Spotted a sign on the outside of our swimming pool yesterday -- and it looks like I could be taking it up again from April.
Got up this morning to find the latest update from our local councillor in my mail box, and I'm not sure how much longer we'll have our local pool
It was struggling a couple of years ago, and the council were planning to close it -- but after public outcry (they'd already closed the next closest) it was given a short stay of execution. It was then one of several local ammenities that applied for extra government money -- and was knocked back. The same thing has apparently happened with the latest round of extra money, so the future of our pool is looking very grim
The next closest is too far for me to risk cycling there and back around school runs (even if I were fit enough to combine the two), I can't afford to run the car there and back on a regular basis, and bus fares would be even more expensiveCheryl0 -
Cheryl that is such a shame. It annoys me that money gets spent on hairbrained schemes but money is denied for things like swimming pools. My pet irritation was the DOME we could have had a world class railway system for what that thing cost. We and many others could never have afforded to go to it anyway.0

but I just want to say that I love reading about how every single person in this thread deals with and lives their life. I love reading all your triumphs, and when you have down days, and there's so many helpful hints and tips on here, that half the time I wish I lived on my own just to try some of them out! I think that everyone always has something valid to say and contributes plenty to the thread.
Well said! I also missed any undercurrents, I always find this thread really friendly and helpful.
Marru, please don't go, you have been one of the people I've most enjoyed 'meeting' on here. I'm sure whatever you think anyone said against you, that wasn't how it was meant. Please reconsider, we'll really miss you if you go.
