thanks guys, I'm really chuffed! It'll be interesting to see inside the firm, as well; I've posted elsewhere on this thread about work-life balance worries and this is precisely the kind of firm where I think I'll find the work fascinating but I'm worried about the kind of hours you have to be at the office, so it will be good to work there for 4 weeks and see what the reality is! It's good to have my summer plans falling into place

Hi guys,
Having trouble staying connected to Internet today and there seems to be an awful lot of sites I can't acces, including online banking and But1!ns B!ng0
Sophiesmum, I tried your link but it's for England only. Thanks for link, though, perhaps it will be handy for a few others.
Miserable and wet outside today, so it's a kitchen day in between working. I have a mince pie in the oven and more cooked mince ready to go into the freezer for another day. Stovies I already make when I have corned beef or similar needing used up, but I'm thinking more of the no-need-to-cook type meals, the kind that when I'm away (out in the garden forgetting about the time), DS or HS can just drag one out the freezer and pop it into the microwave.
First half dozen eggs have gone into my little portable incubator this morning, hopefully some will hatch and work out cheaper, in the long run, than paying between £5 and £15 per live bird.
Still haven't got the curtains made, really must get around to that asap because I want the kitchen finished before the 28th so I can move onto my livestock & garden project in March.
Well done, Andromache! Congratulations :beer:I reserve the right not to spend.

Marru, I saw how much the wellies were, even if everyone else missed it  And all this other stuff you're buying - why??
It makes no sense to me I'm afraid.
Hi Angie_baby, nice to see you posting!:hello: Glad your 4k is going well.
Congratulations on the placement Andromache, and being paid too, result! It'll be great to get that insight so you can make plans for your future that'll make you happy x
Come on Nyk's eggs, hurry up and hatch!
Hope any issues that are frustrating people are sorted out soon. Glad to hear most peeps are doing well so far :T
Had a great day at work today, with a lovely Year 11 pupil who was very appreciative of my help :TI'm looking into working part-time in a school and part-time tutoring so I can have balance - all a long way off but good to be exploring my options. Also went to the Dogs Home again this morning - I go every day and really enjoy it, it's good for the soulAnd I'm managing the dog walking just fine :j
NSD today - not keeping track of these as it's better for me personally to do little bits each day so I don't have loads of jobs to do all at once, but still nice to have oneThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Marru,
bails just sounded bewildered so I went back to find your post. £60 on wellies!
(A genuine question), are you okay? We'll still love you even if you're not buying new and exciting things xxxx:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Still catching up with everyone else...
I saw it by highlighting the gap but assumed wellies were longterm workwear and the choice of brand/make/colour/style was an extravagance I shouldn't mention.Mine are bog standard green safety wellieswith steel toe caps and cost me less than £20 inc P&P several years ago, but some call me a mean and miserable Scot.
I have come to the conclusion that being part of something is sometimes far more important to some people than actually getting to grips with what it's supposed to be about and that there's nothing anyone else can say or do to make it easier for them to understand the real meaning or how they can benefit from it. Sadly, in that respect, I appear to be failing in running my 4k challenge on MSE and sometimes wonder if I should have left it where it was - elsewhere. Many of the things discussed on MSE forums are beyond my comprehension so I just have to shrug my shoulders
and move on until I find something I can relate to.
No offence meant to anyone by any of the above. I have no debt, I live like this to avoid it.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

After deciding i couldn't keep up, i change my mind and have spent over a week trying to catch up. i give up too easily so i will stick to this.
i spent £63.41 in jan. excluding keep. most of this went on food but i know i bought quite a few expensive treats (cheese twist 78p each) at work. if I keep up with baking this doesn't happen so much.
well done to everyone who deserves it and i wish better luck to thoose who need it.0 -
Hey, well done boring beige! :T Noone minds if you can't always keep up, it's just good to be part of the challenge and help each other to make our money work as hard for us as possible! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Afternoon everyone.
I was just trying to get to work and I had a skid in the car, and the only reason I stopped was because my back tyres hit the pavement. Needless to say, I'm not at work, and it was really scary. I've never been out of control of the car before, and it wasn't the nicest experience.
I still feel I cannot offer much advice on here, as half the time, I have nothing important to say. If anyone thinks I'm getting in the way by rambling about stupid stuff, then please just say. I dont mindI nkow I'm not as as good as some of the members on here, but I do love the challenge.
Another NSD for me, as I've not been able to get anywhere! :rotfl: I guess that's one upside to the weather! I just hope its better tomorrow, as I can't afford to keep missing work, and I'm babysitting tomorrow night so I need to be able to get there.
Sending (((HUGS))) to those who want/need one.
sf xx
