    I always have to go in the car for a supermarket. I am fortunate in that all of them are only a couple of miles away, T's, M's, A's, c00p, Lidl's etc, the only one that is very far away is S's and M&S, but only go there on special occasions now, my mum used to do all her shopping there:eek: , hence the reason that dad thinks I am a better manager;) . I am really into costco at the moment, the meat is excellent (I usually go to the butchers), but it is cheaper in there. I got some satsumas in there just before christmas, and they are still as fresh as a daisy. It was a box, I think they were around £3, gave some to my mum and have been eating them myself and I still have some left. I just kept them in the fridge. Great value:D .

    You finished your reviews earlier than me, so I would chase this up if I were you.

    Good morning frunchkins:D
    So glad it is FRiday, I have struggled getting back into work mode this week, need a few more hours each day, especially to keep up with everyone here. Cooking tea for oldies tonight - they have requested egg , chips and mushy peas as a change to all the rich food they have had over xmas:p to help with my fitter not fatter plans think I will have scrambled egg on toast;)
    Marru - enjoy your child free weekend on the farm:j , bails - hope you have some energy pills lined up:rotfl:
    SL - second the yummy satsumas from costco - they were on offer last week for £1.99 a box:D still got loads left.

    Had an interesting debate with OH about car costs the other day. He pointed out to me that by not using my car it is actually costing me more per run when I do use it. Eg taking into consideration the fixed costs- tax, insurance and mot/service approx £500 a year costs if I use car for 100 miles a year that is £5 a mile + petrol, if I only use it 10 miles a year that is £50 a mile + petrol (simplified figures but you get the idea) Hadn't thought of it that way before, won't feel as bad now if I use car:D
    General frugal aims for today;

    Fruit and veg portions;
    3 fruit, 1 pulses, 2 veggies,:D

    Expenditure :o or additional income :)

  • Good morning, frugalers. I hope everyone is well today, big hugs for them that aren't or those feeling down. someone the other day, I think it was on this thread, posted about Britains tightest man well there is a program on @ 7.35pm on ch4 tonight and he is in it, i'm all for saving money but I think he has gone OTT. DS has just left for college, he seemed realy keen to make sure that he is on time for his sociology exam. It is going to be a NSD for me:j , I got everything I need while I was out yesterday.

    Morning all!
    Didn't sleep well so was up early and should be working but still can't quite face it yet :rolleyes: Not a great start to the Monkey Weekend :eek: OH has slept well though (despite still feeling mashed) so he'll be on duty if I can't be :rotfl:Got lots of activities up my sleeve for Mission: Tire Monkey Out ;)

    Right, really do have a very busy day so best get off. SM, your houmous counts as 1 pulse ;) but you can only include one portion of pulses a day in your F&V totals. Doing a great job with them, may have to use your copyrighted daily plan too if that's okay? :T

    BB, I hope you can do some mosaic today x

    Morning everyone
    It's miserable here again today, grey and cold, but I heard it will warm up a bit by Sunday. Hope so. Dreading my gas bill...:eek:

    NSD for me today. Going to try to make some soup later from a few bits of veg in the fridge.
    Staying in to catch up on study - I've heard I may be able to get a bit of help with my OU course fees. Not sure how true this is, as I've already paid for my course so I won't build up my hopes, but if I get the chance to call them later to get more info I will do.

    Better get on with it !
  • Phew still hard work keeping up but my fault for not checking in yesterday. Another NSD yesterday except for the Sun. This is REALLY helping me stay on track with my finances. Normally by now we would have eaten out once or twice plus have had a couple of takeaways - terribly behaviour.

    Today I've enrolled DS in gym as he enjoys it plus it gives me an extra hour in work (we cancelled his after school club last November due to finances), so that was £8. Confused now as I hadn't included this in my budget predictions anywhere so may have to take this out of the clothes budget.

    have a great day everyone! C X
