Can't remember who but someone on this thread last year used to dig their allottment wearing undies, and a raincoat so maybe it is contagious - :rotfl: all this frugal eccentricity

    Guilty! It was me!

And don't ask what I wear for decorating - but it saves washing

  • :grouphug: for Janey. It's been over 3 years since my Mum died, but sometimes when I'm missing her I listen to a piece of music she enjoyed, and think about her, and I find it does help.

It's been a virtual nsd for me today as I can claim back the dodgy train station burger on expenses. At least the coffee was decent. I am so tired now, spent 6 hours travelling!

First thing tomorrow morning I have to transfer my house deposit to the solicitor, so it will be my biggest spend day ever (though I'm not counting that in my £12k budget)!!!! Just hope it all gets there OK, and that I really do get to spend Friday night in my own house :-)

(((((((Hugs Janey))))))))))) Perhaps having seen the counsellor you have pent up emotions that just need to come out? If the music helps you to do so then I think that is a very healthy thing. I hope that you feel lots better tomorrow.

It appears that I have a more severe form of frugalitis than I first realised. Went sales shopping today to spend some vouchers. Could only manage to wander round muttering 'How much:eek: ?'' even though I tried REALLY hard to find things that were: A. Uselful and needed B. Good value C. good quality. Came back with 3 packs of underwear and 1 pack of socks - and nearly all my vouchers:rotfl:

Janey - huge hugs, hope the cats and wine and gorgeous memories of your DH are cathartic. Wish I could send you one of DD's hugs, they are the best I've ever had, she's renowned throughout my friends for being a great hugger.

I now have to google olive oil + nits - DD gets them (and passes them on to me, unfortunately) very frequently; she's biracial and her hair is a nightmare to comb at the best of times....anything i can do that'll make it easier, will be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone. Just an update on the felt making - I got a 100% lambswool jumper for 99p in the charity shop, put it on a boilwash...and nothing happened  Any ideas anyone? I don't have a tumble dryer but could try at my mum's. I can't understand why it didn't shrink?
    Off to catch up now.

Maybe someone already shrunk it hence why it was in charity shop:confused:

Looks like looby loo is a serial eccentric gardener - found this from last year -
"Don't laugh but I did do an hour on the lotty first thing in the rain - I just try to ignore the getting wet. I go up there in just my underwear and waterproof coat and flip-flops. I did some cutting back, caterpillar control, weeding and planted some radish and parsley. Picked a nice marrow for tea. Did a bit more weeding and dead heading in the garden too. I wash my feet and flip-flops under the outside tap and hang them and the mac up. I can go straight into the house and get dried and dressed. No horrid wet clothes or trainers to sort out or dry! I wear shorts at all times of year in the house and garden as they save one heck of a lot of washing and ironing. In the colder times of year I wear the same but resort to wellies on very cold days. Oh, and strong shoes for digging for safety. "

Made me laugh so much remembering that
    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Got me!:o How on earth did you find that after all this time?

  • I was wondering if anyone knows if you can freeze muller light yoghurts?
    Thanks.
Yes, I have done in the past - you can also eat them only partially thawed as a sorbet type pud. I used to buy quite a few as they are 'free on sw' but once I started this challenge and the grocery challenge I had to wean myself off them:D
Oh no bails - that's my xmas pressie plans scubbered! I wonder if you could try actually boiling it in a large pan?
Just offered my non working smeg oven on freecycle and have a few interested. 2nd hand Appliance shops aren't buying anything at the mo.

Just had major breakthrough in planning small kitchen layout so that microwave & remoska doesn't take up all the worktop space:D . Am going to remove a cupbard from the wall. The frugal kitchen redesign project continues...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
