mumzyoftwo, i currently pay £27 a month, this is becuase i have only recently switched to paying monthly. Apparently on their website they explain it, you pay more for the first six months and then it starts to go down, they do it this way so that you start paying for next years licence after the six months, or something like that. Not too happy about it really!

((((hugs)))), :T, :j,, :D, as appropriate... its taken me aaaaaaages to catch up today and I can't remember what I wanted to comment on, sorry! :o

I've been very bad today... :o I set foot in town and bought...

3 pairs of shoes + 1 pair of boots (all 4 prs leather) = total of £73.26 - I will be only counting £37.25 of this from this years budget as I had money set aside from 2008 budget I had wanted to use on boots/shoes but got really  in the sales in Dec when I tried to get some before and went home instead :o 1 pair of shoes may go back.

    1 jumper + 1 top = £7+£3 = £10 - Paid for by gift voucher from mystery shop from aaaaaages ago :D

    1 handbag = £7.50 - I now own 4 in total :rotfl:

2 small oven dishes = £2 - so I can cook some small 2 portion oven stuff and cook it or freeze it (all the ones I have are much to big for just me)

    Turner/spatula type thing + spoon = £1 - My turner/spatula type thing broke...

Mini toiletry gift set = £2.93 - I needed a new make-up bag so got a nice one with some botanics bath stuff in it in the boots sale

Conditioner = 2x74p = £1.48 - for some reason reduced in a small branch of Boots. I bought 1 then realised that I had been given 100 pts for it so went back and bought another one. :T Boots effectively paid me to take some conditioner off their hands. :D Shame there weren't more. I may go back tomorrow and see if they put any more out! ;)

    Off to edit sig...

    Think it will be;

portions of blanched carrots for freezer
some for cw to take home

    Something from sprout recipe site:confused:
some for cw to take home
Some she said....... I didn't expect enough to feed a family of 6 for a month !!!

Or that's what it looks like anyway...... DS sure isn't going to be happy when he seems the mountain of sprouts appear in the kitchen :rotfl:

But I daredn't leave this stuff in the kitchen, else I'm likely to have a dog with a poorly tum in the morning -- I suspect he'd find the quantities too hard to avoid ;)

HUGE thanks again SM -- and I hope the Bingo went well :)

where u at Lollypop cos that sounds a bit like a monopoly going on if u ask me.

I reckon Mr T are going to feel the pinch with Wally backed Asda anyway. I need to read my latest Food mag to see what's what me thinks. It's sitting on my desk at work so I'll ave a shufty on Monday.

Even if you use your clubcard Asda works out to be cheaper in my estimation.

I know that many people are going to be affected (staff) by the crunch at Mr T's but I can't help thinking they need to be taught a big fat lesson.

Sorry in advance if I've offended anyone but I don't want to end up in Tesco - World

edited, I didin't want anyone to think I want the staff at Mr T's to be taught a lesson, no it's the brand itself.

So, I've contacted severn trent about getting a free water meter installed and they should get back to me early next week.
This should roughly take my water bill from £564pa down to £220pa approx. Although maybe it will be slightly more when baby comes in Feb...but still, thats saving something!! (whats the consensus...is a water meter ok for 2 adults in a 2 bed semi-detached?? My mum swears that water meters are the spawn of the devil...but when pushed she and other rellies haven't given any valid reasons to stop me going down this route! ......whats the MSE opinion on them???!!)
I reckon I'd have been better off having a meter when I moved into my first house (2-bed semi), as it was just me and DD. Then elder DS came along, so I thought it was probably a close run thing. Then DH (though he wasn't DH then), then for the last month we also had younger DS. By that point I reckoned we were definitely better off not having a meter.

I reckoned we were probably about level pegging at the next house (3-bed terraced).

We then rented a 3-bed detached with a water meter (without DD, who moved in with my parents for college -- we moved areas by about 35 miles). The water people wanted to set the Direct Debit at twice what we'd been paying -- so I told them they could have what I'd been paying, and I'd straighten up when the first bill arrived, or they could go without anything until I got the first bill. So they opted for the first choice ;)

By the time we moved out 9 months later we were over £60 in credit - but they still want to double the payments as we were moving into a 4-bed detached with a bathroom, cloakroom and en-suite. I none too politely pointed out there was still the same number "pulling the chain" and having a wash and washing clothes etc -- so they could have the same choice as last time. And they opted for the same thing.

Needless to say my guesstimate was closer to theirs, and I'm currently paying £25/month having just increased it to cover a deficit on the last bill (we've been here almost 7 years and it's the first time I've needed to do this).

BUT, and this is a BIG but, it really does depend on how 'free and easy' you are with your water.

A friend who lives just over the road in a 3-bed semi has always paid over twice what I have -- even when we were both 'a family of 4'. But they all have baths every night (we strip wash, with a couple of showers a week), and she has her washer on at least a couple of times a day (mine averaged once a day, but is now less than that). They also use a hosepipe on their garden during the summer (subject to no drought orders) which I've never done, and have a sprinkler thing for the kids to play under (something I won't have due to the cost of the water, and resultant mud bath on the lawn). So I'm definitely better off on a meter, but they'd probably be better off without.

(Keep thinking of going to DDs to wash my car, as it's in desperate need of doing and she doesn't have a meter ;) )

  • :( Am upset now as I only want £8 worth of things from the appr0ved f00d site and the £5.25 delivery charge makes it uneconomical.

going to go and sob into my hot chocolate....

Not sure what happens after my sick pay runs out but we can manage on OH's wages.
If you're currently on SSP (which can be part of any company sick pay), then you would previously have moved onto Incapacity Benefit after 28 weeks. But they've now replaced IB with ESA, so I guess you'd need to apply for that instead.
