morethan are not a breakdown service!
Obviously not given phobic's experience, that being the case perhaps they should stop selling breakdown cover http://www.morethan.com/Pages/Products/Breakdown/BreakdownHomepage.aspx0 -
I'm with morethan too. i've just broken down and have now been on hold for over 2 hours, and counting! luckily, i was only about a mile from home, so i took a taxi and am calling from there, otherwise my mobile battery would have died ages ago.
this company is absolutely dreadful! people must break down every day in areas they don't want to get stuck in and not be able to get any assistance.
really annoyed.
I think you'll find yesterday was a rather popular day for breaking down.0 -
Complaints dept at more than Insurance co
01422325102..
I to have major problems with Mre Tan,it has taken 45 mins of being sent around in a complete circle to finaly get the complaints number fter being told by their claims dept there wasn't a complaints dept, to be told that More Than has bottled out to take on the council for not gritting the roads being a main bus route, causing my accident.
I was travelling along a road, Gateshead, with my son’s fianc! (who is at present date 4 months pregnant), at approx 5 mph as the whole of Kells Lane,Beacon Lough Bank,Durham Road and Old Durham Road had been left in a dangerous state, a complete sheet of black ice, unfortunately there was no option but to stay on this road as the side roads were even worse, and to be honest if I had known the road had been left in such a state I would never of drove along it, a total disgrace.
I was passing the junction of Pimlico Court and I started to apply gentle pressure to my brakes to gently slow down as a Black Audi , was parked half on the kerb and half on the road, obstructing my side of the road, straight opposite a bus stop,my car did not slow down just slowly slid at an angle, and tapped the rear drivers side bumper causing a rub mark to the Audi but in turn cracking the front passenger side of my bumper along with the top arm of the passenger head light, under the bonnet, and dinting the bonnet slightly at the corner of the same light, as well as bending the metal plate in-between the radiator and front vent area on the bonnet beside the same light area. I am not sure if there was any further damage to the front or rear as I‘m not a car mechanic.
My car kept sliding slowly, with the memento from the first tap, making the rear end slowly slide out, into a gold coloured
estate car, which was travelling on the other side of the road, he
had his rear drivers side arch way dinted from the rear drivers side of my bumper leaving a hole in my bumper.
After exchanging details and calling the police we got the vehicles moved as the road was so dangerously icy, I asked the police to request an emergency gritter to come to Kells Lane, I have been most upset by this to think a road which is so regularly used by a lot of drivers that the area had been left in such a serious state, being a bus route also, I exchanged details with the driver of the gold vehicle and went straight home.
I rang my Insurance Company for a second time after requesting a ring back, which never happened and explained what had happened,
after several attempts I asked to speak to some-one who I could
understand only to get some-one who was just as bad.
And after I decided I was not going to accept liability for this bump, as the road was in a dangerous, unacceptable way, I then spoke to The Local Environmental Services dept, on Shearlegs Road Gateshead NE8 3EN. I stressed that it was not just Kells Lane that was left in a dangerous state as this had been there some time by the looks of it, it was also Beacon Lough Bank as I was so shocked to see the amount of vehicles also sliding backwards down Beacon Lough Bank, shockingly a lorry also. More Than state I have to accept liability but after speaking to the Evening Chronicle as well as Gateshead Council I was told they do have a legal reponsibility to clear the main roads and was told to forward an e-mail of complaint to the Ins Claims Dept. I am shocked by More Thans attitude that when you pay for legal coverage that they do not honour what you pay for and have forwarded this on to Trade and Standards, and I'm so shocked at all the posts on this site about More Than as if I had read them before I took out my policy with them I would never of used them. They are lazy but quick enough to grab your cash of you when it is them who is owed it.
Is there any help out there for us poor drivers who end up in this position  arghhhh

hi i have had major issues with more than as well, i can give you the following names and email addresses to see if they help 08448548853 or the investigation unit 08456741890 and a popular name is shelley the investigations advisor.
from legal advice i have seeked ive been told to get everything they tell you sent in an email as they have a habit of saying what we want to hear.
more than should provide a courtesy car within 24 hrs until the car is repaired or declared a write off. as stated on the more than website under policy.
dont give up, hope you get it sorted soon, ive been trying to sort mine for 3 months now. xx0 -
3 years on from their complaint being raised you'd kind of hope they've had it resolved or given up by now0

After reading this lot, I feel a bit of a fraud with my complaint! I cancelled their policy at renewal because it had hiked ridiculously and they didn't cancel it, meaning not only did (and still do) have the premium I didn't want to pay them, I'd instructed another company meaning I was insured by two companies for three weeks, effectively voiding any insurance!
Loads more bits and pieces but all money and dishonesty on their part. At least my car still works!

Welcome to the forum
Unfortunately, what you have written in your post does not identify what grounds you feel you have for a complaint.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I read your post is that you did not like the renewal quote from MoreThan so you went to another insurer and started a policy but you failed to inform MoreThan that you did not wish to renew.
The fact that you had two policies in force for 3 weeks did NOT effectively void your insurance. In the event of a claim, both companies would have agreed to share the cost of the claim, read the T&Cs where it tells you clearly how they deal with this type of dual cover.
After you have made an error of this type, you can easily resolve the situation by providing proof of when your cover started on your new policy, then your old insurer will cancel the auto-renewed policy and refund premiums back to that date, although a cancellation fee may also be due.
IMO the majority of people who face problems of this type could have avoided the issues if they had read the T&Cs and had followed the correct steps to inform their insurance company of their intentions. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. "MORE TH>N Contents Insurance has the optional extra of Cover Away from the home, so things that you always have on you, such as portable computer games personal sterios and jewellery are covered, wherever you may be. You must tell us if any item you own is worth more than £1,500, other than carpets, curtains and furniture."

wow sounds like great cover until you make a claim. aparrently wherever you maybe includes everywhere on holiday, on the street, mars anywhere apart from your home. nice of them to specify that.
even better of them to cover carpets, curtains and furniture outside of the home irespective of there value. that 20,000 pounds worth of iranian yaks wool carpet in my garden is well covered should anything happen.
theres more...
under the headline "standard cover"...
"tv's, hi-fis, pcs, mirrors covered against accidental damage or loss"
when i broke my waterproof camera by dropping it on the bath i thought i pay £250 for contents cover, i have to be covered by either the "cover outside the home" that covers anything anywhere or the standard cover that covers small electrical breakages.
i was wrong.
i made a similar breakage 4 years ago with a camera on a kitchen floor. i had exactly the same cover with Legal & General and the paid out noi probs.
boy i wish i stayed with them.
don't worry about the replying to my complaint quickly morethan take your time. acknowledgement in 5 days, first reply in 4 weeks, FOS in 8 weeks.
i will make sure the whole of twitter and facebook knows that your are the worst insurer i have ever experienced.
even if i need to stand outside your office in halifax with a sandwich board on and dressed in a fully insured pair of curtains.0 -

Thats why it's called away from home cover

It does not list cameras so they're not covered
