Hi Guys,
I've only recently bought a fairly similar Laptop from DELL, but it's the widescreen version with 15.4" screen, and 512 MB RAM, the rest of the specs are almost exactly the same. I use it on a wireless home network with absolutely no problems at all..........I reckon for that price you can't really go wrong, some people have mentioned the issue of Celerons being quite substandard processors, but you can't really tell the difference unless you do ultra high CPU usage e.g high res image processing/gaming. To top it all off, it's got DELL reliability........definitely a must buy.....!!It takes 43 muscles to frown.........17 muscles to smile.......but only ONE CLICK to say THANKS..!!0 -
I notcie that all the recovery disks and XP disk are extra. Can these simply be created on the DVD writer when the computer is delivered or is it best to order them ?0

All the drivers/recovery disks are located on a hidden partition on the hard drive, this data can be accessed by pressing one of the buttons (not sure which) during the POST, or you can call up DELL they will ask you for your ID TAG and send you the CD's.......!!!
If you have any other problems you can always use system restore...!! Hope this helps..!!It takes 43 muscles to frown.........17 muscles to smile.......but only ONE CLICK to say THANKS..!!0 -

Had this with an earlier Dell and they said it was their policy NOT to send out discs (I guess that is why paying for them is now an option).0 -
I just bought the laptop, i've been looking for ages for one and this is the best deal i have seen. I upgraded the screen size and battery and it came to £386 not bad i think?
Now all i have to do is get the more memory, and the wireless router. I haven't got a clue about wireless what do i need to get now. I was told that i would need another computer to set the wireless up is this right?
Where is the cheapest place to get the router and memory from and how much?
Thanks NeilHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

My 15.4" model cost me about £500.00 I didn't buy it through DELL direct but through a friend of a friend who works in DELL, it's why I didn't mention the price in my first post, but it's got 512 DDR2 RAM which is real fast, it supports upto 2GB RAM. It's a laptop you'd want to "show off".....!!!It takes 43 muscles to frown.........17 muscles to smile.......but only ONE CLICK to say THANKS..!!0 -
This might seem a stupid question.
I'm looking at the bargain Dell laptop and see it has not got MS Office. Can I just use the disc with MS Office that I have on my 2 year old Dell desktop PC? Or is there a problem with the code already registered to the main PC.
Rachelif i had known then what i know now0 -

I'm not too sure about paying for disks, I think you only pay for postage, I haven't (yet) had the need for the disks (touch wood) so I am not quite sure about the details, but I'm just quoting what I was told when I bought the laptop. It takes 43 muscles to frown.........17 muscles to smile.......but only ONE CLICK to say THANKS..!!0 -

Hi Neil, you won't need another computer for wireless, if you've already got broadband you just need a wireless router, they are fairly easy to configure, just read the manual, DDR2 memory is quite cheap for the 1300 at crucial, hope this helpsIt takes 43 muscles to frown.........17 muscles to smile.......but only ONE CLICK to say THANKS..!!0
