Hello all, I will be joining the DMP-ers soon.

    First (of many!) questions.

I have an Abbey Bank Account and a A&L MBNA credit card. Now I know that A&L and Abbey are both part of Santander, but not sure if MBNA own the A&L credit card or Santander.

So if I reduce payments with A&L MBNA, will I need to change to a neutral Bank Account?

    Thanks!

    Hi JWM, welcome aboard :D

Our MBNA was with Abbey = Santander - so I think you will need to change to a neutral bank account. If its of any help, we went for a Halifax Easycash account - just the basic one - and it was set up without any bother.

    Hope that helps.

Keep asking away - there are usually more of us around! I do check in every day (everyone seemed to be managing pretty well) but I've not been having a very good spell of things myself so have been unable to post much. Sorry :o

Hello everyone else - old and new!

TP - well done, I'm impressed :j - I wish I could find the strength to pack in the evil cigs.

Tinkerbell - such wonderful news - take good care of yourself :D.

So I've heard. Long story short, work in finance, DH has had mental health problems so he isn't on board (he MUST avoid stress), a few big house bills coming up so don't want to do anything official.

Many thanks for the warm welcome, I'll be popping in for a cuppa and a chat soon, and maybe a few tears too the lenders aren't helpful!

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry it's been quiet and you don't feel the support thread is living up to it's name :o . I think it goes in spells and as the new boys and girls settle down and the DMP ticks over in the background there is less need to log in because we're too busy living our lives :D . You'll know what I mean in a few months ;) . Meanwhile I'll try to help but I am NOT one of the experts.

    Working backwards:

JWM Good luck with doing it yourself. Like others I can recommend Payplan and I'm sure they would give you allowances for large household bills. They helped me include my OU degree fees (hidden from the creditors as something else ;) ). Definitely move your account to somewhere that's not connected with any debts, it's just not worth the risk of them taking your money.

Princess of plastic (love the name) Rayday does the numbers but her daughter was very unwell so DMP and MSE are low down her list just now. Hopefully things will improve and she'll be back soon, we all miss her. I'm sorry, I don't know anything about CCCS paperwork:confused:, Payplan take the figures verbally and don't ask for proof.
Sunshine Hello again, hope things improve for you very soon :grouphug: .

Elsie Last September we had to reduce our payments permanently as OH had to take a pay cut. I was really worried but we had not one murmur from any of our creditors:T (and we have lots of them :o ).

    Hope that helps a bit,
    Sam,

Sam89.......thanks for replying. It's put my mind at rest, it is the very last thing we wanted to do, because obviously, lowering our monthly payments means longer DF date. It will now be after the original Nov 2011.

    Thanks again

  • Hello everyone

Lots of posts happening, which is good!

There seems to be many of us just starting out on our DMP's , me being one of them, so please lets not go quiet.
It was posting on here just over a week ago that got me through several very low moments, I think if it hadn't been for DLB and MFM, I might not have had the strength to continue!!

So new and old DMPers, let's continue what this thread has been all about for the past months/years and give as much support as we can to each other to get us through our way to being DF. Believe me I'm gonna need it, my DFD is 2020!!!!!

I too am sorry to hear about Rayday's Daughter and I too would like to request an official number when Rayday is able to alocate.

Have a good day guys, and remember we're all in the same boat on this thread so lets give each other as much advice, support and encouragement as we can.

    Sorry to ramble MD xxxx
Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

Hi all I have a question I am putting things in motion to start my dmp I have a natwest loan and a natwest bank account. I am setting up a new bank account so what do I do about the loan do I call the banks and tell them I am going onto a DMP and can they stop all action on the loan or send a letter with a token payment also closing my account. Also can anyone tell me how they got on with the following creditors:

    MBNA
    Barclaycard
    Abbey
    Barclays
    Northern Rock
    Natwest

I have never missed a payment so I am worried they will not accept the dmp. Any advice will be really, really appreciated. Thank you.
  • Hello everyone - sorry for not being online - had migraines for last 4 days and felt awful.

    Hope everyone is ok

Nice to see some new dmp'ers

Massivedebts - I have replied to your private message - hope the info helps. and well done on facing your debt demons.

I shall be on and off the forum for most of the day - so if any of you have any questions or need a bit of support - please feel free to ask - everyone on here is wonderful and whilst I am not an expert - I have just started on a DMP myself and so know a bit about what all you new comers are facing.

Good luck everyone and congratulations on wanting to be debt free.
