Thank you Candygirl, much appreciated
Just wasn't sure how to go about it all!
The DMP will be with CCCS, I don't know how long this new bank account will take to get completely set up though, which does worry me a little!! Ah well, it'll all work out, I'm sure! :rolleyes:Smober since 05/12/2008 :j

Eriberri, I only had a couple of DDs, you should cancel those prob as soon as you've been accepted, token payments I made by sending a cheque from my old account to the creditor. A lot of people have done the same thing using Postal Orders.
As to any other DDs (Bills etc), these obv need to be transferred over to the new account as soon as you have the new account information. Most I did by phoning the companies up, they were all very helpful. And remember to transfer your salary over too!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi Everyone!
Can I have a number please?
I started my DMP on 1st December and so far, things have been very quiet! HSBC are my main creditor and they've offered me a managed loan on which they are prepared to accept the amount I was offering them, but CCCS advised me not to accept this and to keep paying them as usual. There was a fair bit of interest on this managed loan.
Others, I haven't heard much from! GE Money (Store card) passed me on to Debt Collection, never told me, but I got a letter from the DCA saying they were accepting my piffling amount of about £5 a month!
Style issued a default on my account, but not heard anything else, but it does seem there's a colelction agency involved.
Others just seem to send me statements and reminders from time to time, but nothing too nasty.....yet! I'm thinking things are going to get harder! Got a bonus from work at Xmas which was useful for Christmas presents and I'm waiting to hear about a pay rise from January, so if I have more coming in, I can up the amount I'm paying CCCS! Managing to stay on budget so far really, even with Christmas, so will look at tightening things up even more in the New Year and see if I can get my £233 a m,onth uop nearer the £300 mark

Happy new year everybody! Andreweduk, all the best for the future. I had an initial flurry of hassle, but it's all been quiet since, apart from collecting defaults...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

Hi all and happy new year
i was wondering if i could join your support group?
i have recently post on here about how i am setting up a dmp to deal with my £23k debt, dmp is with cccs, hope they accept. Also i have just split with my bf so moving to house on my own to start new debt free life hopefully.
Debt is due to bf not working for last two years when we lived together and my own depression related gambling and spending.
I am making token payments to creditors in jan/feb until dmp is set up. Just wanted to ask one of my creditors is a bank loan and i was told that you cant cancel the direct debit on a bank loan because they have to do it? i can pay them for jan but that will be the last one, then im moving bank accounts. Just worried theyll keep on trying to take the payment and increase my overdraft to take it and add on loads of charges. - Any advise?
in order to be able to move house i am going to have to use my cards this monnth as i have no money for deposit also for my car mot, and petrol and food. Do you think theyll still accept my dmp even though there is recent activity on the cards? i'll try and keep it minimal but it will still be a fair bit. the creditor is barclaycard and also they are the one that i made most of my gambling transactions on so quite worried about that. I am making their full minimum payment this month though even though its strectching me.
Look forward to hearing from you,
suzie

You can either cancel online, phone or in person. I cancelled online I think so it was easier. They should be getting a letter from CCCS to explain it all0

Thanks for your reply.
just wondered if there is any other help/advice for my problems as posted above - particularly from someone who has barclaycard as one of their creditors?
Also another quick question - i have two store cards with £30/£40 balances on each, i havent included these in the dmp as they so small, so was just planning on paying £10 to each per month out of my food budget money till theyre paid off (about 3/4 months) i obviously wont be putting any more on the cards as im cutting them up. Is this ok, or does every single debt have to be included in the dmp even if its a small amount?
Also wanted to check, are cccs ok about you having a debit card? ive set up a new bank account, its a natwest step account, it has no overdraft, no chequebook but does have a debit card, its supposed to be the account for people with bad credit rating/financial difficulty, will cccs be ok with that account for everything?
Thanks in advance.
Suzie

Hi Suzie,
Welcome to the board btw!
I have a debt with Barclaycard who I am pretty sure have accepted my dmp as I started off having lots of calls from them but these have now stopped and I think they will just write to me in the future as requested this because the calls were bordering on harassment. I had recent activity on my card I think as I kept using it like normal and then making payments etc but then in the recent financial climate with everything on the increase and jobs on the decrease it became too much and I think they have accepted this as my reason for a dmp (overcomittted on credit) but I am on a low start dmp which means my reviews will be quite frequent and that my circumstances are being thought of as temporary- but like others have said on here before we can't let them have or give them what we don't have!
With regards to your store cards I would say that it is best to list them on your dmp as I think if you make payments to creditors outside your cccs dmp agreement you are at risk of putting the plan in jeopardy as the cccs work out the payments in a way of such that everyone gets a fair share and if your creditors thought you were paying other creditors on the side and knew about this they would not be happy- I'm not saying they would find out but my thinking from what I’ve read is that you need to declare everything. Unless you could get them paid off before your dmp start date? Then technically they wouldn't exist but not sure- I am sure others will offer advice on this too.
The new bank account should be fine too. Obviously if you have debt with a bank that you have put in to your dmp it is advised to open a new one anyways so that creditors can't take any payments from you and you have a separate account.
From your earlier post too about cancelling a dd with a loan company, I had a loan with egg and Sainsbury’s and I managed to cancel my direct debits etc and payments did not continue. They just like the other companies kept calling and writing to me but since cccs have been in contact with them this has stopped. Sainsbury's unfortunately sold my debt to a debt collection agency which is a bit of a bummer but it has been ok so far, just taking every day as it comes likes most of us.
Hope this has been of some help, I am sure others who are more knowledgeable then me in these areas will be along soon to help.
