  • WOW!! So many new people, a big 'hello' to all of you!

Been poorly recently, had a bad back, cough, cold, sore throat, aches and pains, if I'd have had toilet troubles too then I would have had the full set of ailments, a bit of everything :rotfl: glad to be getting back to normal!

Have stopped smoking too, ok this was due to not feeling well but I'd wanted to stop for a while, started to hate the smell but still enjoyed it now and again especially after meals. But we decided to tackle it together and we haven't smoked for one week.:j I got a tub from the £1 shop, one of those ones that you have to open with a tin opener and we have put money away in there like we would buy fags. So far this week we have managed to save £20!! Hopefully in August we could be on an all inclusive in France :rotfl: nah the money will be there as extra or will go towards our smallest debt (oh how boring! :p ), we decided the best way to be debt free quicker is to target the lowest creditor, it's no good giving CCCS more money yet as some creditors haven't stopped with the interest and charges so it seems like the extra payments will be swallowed up in that.

I'm a little miffed with Monument at the minute, we recently wrote asking for charges back and reclaim ppi from all the creditors and Monument were the first to offer anything back. We accepted their offer for the charges because we didn't really expect anything back but when we saw their statement for January it had interest on and a late payment fee and overlimit fee.

oh for %!*@ sake!! I give up writing to these people I really do. I will wait for the charges to build up and then claim back again but argh!!! it's so frustrating! I just want them to stop being so bloody greedy!

OH says he can't see why I get so bothered about the creditors and their statements, he just keeps reminding me how much interest and charges they would have been adding if we were still struggling to meet payments and hadn't gone through CCCS yet. He is right (which makes it worse :p ) we were paying one creditor £300 per month and ONE POUND was coming off the total, A POUND!! Now our DMP is £300 and we are paying all of them with that.

Good luck to all of you who are starting out on the DMP journey of creditor hell. :D Some of them are real pains in the harses but we will get there in the end and it has been so nice to see that 'older' members from the group back on here to give us all advice and support.

    take care xxx

Hi Folks - have not been around for a while - no major developments, just the usual letters adding on charge after charge. Getting really frustrating as the debts just go up an up. Not so many phone calls but as NR have not accepted our offer imagine there will be court papers very soon - scary stuff

Had a bit of success with reclaiming charges from my old John Lewis card - they refunded the whole lot plus interest as a gesture of goodwill (£279.99), will go towards our £600 car bill that we are allowed to pay up by the garage - given with one hand and taken away with the other. Have written to RBS reclaiming bank charges - these will go straight towards paying off the overdraft I have set up on my DMP if I'm successful. Anyone had any joy reclaiming with RBS?? Given that they had huge losses I am not confident.

Struggling this month with 4 days till pay day - my DMP budget counts my food as £320 for the month - I based this on £80 per week (still tight for a family of 3 adults and one child), however, in a five week month virtually impossible - need to mention this when I have a review. Had to borrow money from my mother to get through. My eldest (19) lost his job so is at home all day eating and we have massive rows when I tell him he has to be careful with the food as most is allocated for meals and not just for him to snack on.
No more credit for me - I will no longer live beyond my means :A

i had this experience withh Egg a couple of years ago when i cancelled the DD by mistake, they were contacting me within about 48hrs - fine at that time as it was a genuine mistake but wont be this time!!!:-)) I guess its different for each creditor.

HI, weve been recieving daily if not hourly contact from egg regarding cancelled DD's.
In the ned a nice lady said "that ok, well just issue a default" and the calls stopped !

MBNA however just keep calling and donot seem to get th emessage they cannot have what we dont have.

Barclaycard Loans tried it on, on the weekend, calling forst at 20:30 on friday night, then 08:05 on saturday morning. both times, waking the baby. so now after a lengthy chat when they had the cheak to say they would keep on calling unless we paid them £10 to stop being called for 10 days, we have sent a letter telling them to stop, mentioned harassment and have demanded their compalins proceedure.

Out Aliance & Lester accounts responded too saying they would not accept FmF offers and that the debt was not negotiable. So now well keep them on the DMp and pay them £7 a month for the next 5 years instead. !

Still waiting for a response from Egg and BarclayCard CC regarding the offer of FnF payments to them.

    onwards and upwards.

your support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx
  • Just had a letter from MBNA saying that they're accepting the reduced payment and have stopped interest and charges - due to be reviewed in 12 months. I've heard so many horror stories about MBNA that I was quite worried that they were going to be pains, but looks like not! We shall see if I'm saying that in 12 months time though! :rotfl:

Got a letter from CL Finance on Saturday. Because they were paid early for December (bank hols) they are claiming I've missed a payment and charged me £12 for the privilege of paying them early

Interesting phone call will be coming up shortly :p

Iv still not heard from payplan redgards swapping over to them, but i have phone Natwest recoveries this moring they are my largest credtor and spoke to the recovery team, explained im thinking of moving away from the dmp im with now and how do i go about paying them direct.
They were great, gave me account number for payment and number to phone to pay with my co-op visa electron, confirmed when next payment needs to be made and said they were happy with the current payment arrangment amount and it was up for review in Oct.
Best bit about the call she gave me my outstanding ballance..and it turns out my overdraft is now clear!!!! and my loan ballance is £2000 LESS THAN WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS!!!!!!!!

Hi Donna - fab news re Natwest, i cant wait till i find out my debts are less than i thought!!!

No real news from me today, i'm just biding my time till towards the end of the week till i cancel my loan dd's and my egg credit card dd. I'm figuring if the payments are due on 2/3rd feb then if i cancel the dd's Thursday they cant try to take the payments but i'll not be cancelling it so soon that they start to call me before the weekend. I've cancelled a few priority payment dd's where either no payment is due or they've already been paid and the change will go through before the next payment. The rest i'll cancel and reinstate with new details as soon as the payment has gone out of my account.

My child benefit is due in on 2nd, i changed dd instruction last week so hopefully that will go into new acc, if not i should be able to transfer it out immediately. Just hope my Child Tax Credit is sorted sooner rather than later as i have a feeling after the end of next week Natwest wont be quite so easy to deal with:rotfl:!!!!

I also cleared out my email inbox and unsubscribed to all those holiday companies, clothes shops etc that send me their promotions, and in a moment of what hubby says is madness i did a rough budget through till our holiday in August!!

Still concerned about the phone calls as the creditors arent going to get their first CCCS payment till April, but i've started to mention 'we've been getting really weird phonecalls' to people so if we do have to have a number change hopefully it will be plausible.I'm going to take my voicemail off my mobile as well as it costs me to retrieve messages and i have a feeling quite a few will be coming my way!!

Well done to everyone else just starting out...its going to be a long journey but with the help of this site i'm sure its going to be a slightly easier one...
